Hi Mission #3 players.:)
I have Rock's Vinder key (?) and have gone into the area you are discussing and into a separate little warehouse that is opened by a pedestal switch (turns blue). In there, I find an elevator with a lock next to it. Presumably that moves a cover giving you access to the elevator control buttons. I cannot open the lock, and I cannot operate the elevator. Is there another key somewhere for that lock?
I went down the gravel slope mentioned by coreyb2, and with careful creeping I could get past the goosey bot down there.
The door at the bottom leads into a warehouse we have already been in, so it is a useless exercise, so far as I can tell.
I cannot find a key down there, either. So, I am stuck and unable to proceed. Any ideas?

smithpd,
The key to open that elevator lock is....
down that gravel pathway. When you went down there did you find a toolbox on top of the crates? I had to open and close it 3 times before I got a key out of it. I'm noticing that some things need to be frobbed more than once to get them to work (i.e. gear key locks, some switches...)
LOL! I was just about to post the same thing as Devorgilla. I had to open it twice to pick up the key.
smithpd on 19/10/2003 at 16:42
Thanks, Devorgilla!:) I had only frobbed it twice. But that is not the real problem. The key is
underneath the toolbox, so you need to find a mouse position where the toolbox is not highlighted. Then you can frob the key directly.
Tricky, eh?

I think the Elevator mission 2 is pretty darn good. For me the challenge lies within the whole of the mission not just the loot. True, mission 1 seemed like this whole thing may be a flop rhen came mission 2 then 3 the factory..and I just compleated The Sub Base early this morning, I wont go to bed untill I finish the mission so I dont forgt whats up . I would like to help more with questions but I forget ware I found some things and dont want to mislead anyone. I had the same problem with that key below the factory. I frobed the tool box, thaught it was empty and moved on.
Oh well...Happy tafin

Geez. I feel inadequate.:)
OK, I got the elevator control key discussed above, explored the new area, and found the rope arrows. I have three locked gates I cannot open.
1. Go down a ramp and find a portcullis with a conventional lock.
2. Large wood door near guard with hard hat and rope arrows.
3. Portcullis in courtyard next to guard's doom with window overlooking passage leading from the portcullis.
I have gone all around and roped up to all the wood I can see, but I have found nothing. I found a guy with a fake wood balcony. I jumped down from there,
and found a large house with a locked door and a guard inside. On that house I found a beam. Went up and got a key. Key doesn't fit house. Probably fits #1 lock above. OK. Now I can't get out from this area because arrows don't stick in the fake wood balcony. Evidently, I need to open large wood door (#2 above) first.
Clearly that is not the right move, and I am getting ahead of myself and trapped.
Can someone spoil me with what my next move should be? How do I open #1, 2, or 3 (first spoiler)?

I love the challenge of Elevator 2 :cheeky: It puts my taffin' skills to work. I'm almost finished with Submarine and I'd also be hardpressed to give directions on which way to go if someone were stuck since this level has so many twists and turns. It's not much but there is also a small bit of loot on this level too. Hats off to the fan mission designer.

smithpd,
I'm wracking my brain trying to remember what switch does what where you are at. I think I know what you need to do....
When you were in that room with the wood balcony did you look closely at the table with a fern on it in the corner? Frob the silver bottle.
Thanks again, Devorgilla.:) That did it. I had not seen that "switch". Then the sequence fell into place, easy as 1, 2, 3. All gates previously mentioned are open now, and I am off to new territory. Don't get too far ahead of me.;)
