Melissa,
You weren't able to do what I mentioned in my message above?

I give up!! I hate to ever give up, but when you have no place to hide and no weapons to use and no defence of any kind, that's just not fun anymore. Good luck to all who stick it out and thanks for your help along the way.

Lynxk67,
There is a spoiler above about the ape beasts. Are you still having trouble there, or is it somewhere past that point? Admittedly, this mission is not everyone's cup of tea, but having stuck it out this far I think you have the skills to proceed. For the most part, in addition to some slightly obscure puzzles, the game can be played using sneaking technques to get into favorable position on the AI. The ape beasts are a case in point.
Both of them can be BJ'ed from behind without disturbing them if you creep up on them slowly, just out of range of their vision.
There are a couple of spots, however, where you need to be able to run fast and act quickly or use the hit-run-hide method for repetitive attacks. Whether sneaking is feasible or not will become apparent eventually, but it is the preferred approach to start out.

Devorgilla,
Just now I went back and tried your method, and it did not work for me. I think you hit on some little bug. I am sure the method I used above is the way to go.

Having recovered from two very late nights and sleep deprivation, I am just amazed by this mission pack. Yes, as I said, it is not everyone's cup of tea, but it is classic JIS work. I got a real sense of satisfaction from completing it. There were some areas that I think were too sparsely furnished, and the lack of loot added to the boredom factor felt by some players. But the overall great architecture, arrangements of terrain, clever puzzles, and the need to overcome many obstacles means to me that (a) it was a lot of fun to play, and (b) it takes a sense of grim determination to get though it. And, you see throughout, especially in the last two missions, a sense of humor, how the author is jerking the player's chain and trying to create both frustration and comic relief. Congratulations to those who have finished. To those still struggling, hang in there. Getting through mission 9, Men's Tale, will be the true test, and you will feel better for doing it. I hope. ;):D

I don't understand Tranciency... my objective is "You escaped at dawn" or something similar.. ok, but what am I supposed to do?
I believe I have covered the map,
opened one door with secret switch, just to get where I'd already been, been by the ship, two training dummies, in the large house with one guard that can't be knocked out in front of it, said hi to the lady wandering around, flipped a switch and taken the elevator up to find a speed potion close by the start, found some loot...seen Benny through a window...
But where do I go and what am I supposed to do..? I remember the first mission caught me by surprise when I got the mission complete - I figure this one is also just a matter of getting to one particular place..?
So many places I could have used a rope arrow in this mission, but I haven't been able to find any.
Anyone got hints on how to proceed please?

McEve,
There is nothing to the mission. You just have to end up someplace.
There is a place where you find a red key. There are spoilers way above that explain where to find the red key. It gives you access to some place you need to go. The last place you go is a house with two practice dummies in the front yard. There are other practice dummies in the mission that don't count.
Thank you for replying smithpd!
I have read about the thief hiding in the alley by the pub wearing a red key. Now there are no thief hiding in any alleys as far as can tell... So I assumed that was next level.... There is an alley across from the pub close to the start, no one in that alley though. There's also another pub further into the map, but no alley across from that one...?
 (again :joke: )

We were in the mission where there was a long slide into a lava pool and locked gates on the other side, there was an archer shooting at us. We managed to evade him without too much damage, picked up the bottle which opened the gates, jumped the lave pool and got into an area with a haunt with red fire on his hands and face which caused damage if he got near you. I couldn't find anyplace to go t escape him and had no weapons to fight him. This is just too frustrating. I don't mind having to fight or outwit an enemy or a place to hide from them. But you need a breather once in a while. By the way it looks like there are only 3 people still playing if we drop out.

I could need a very clear message as to where I'm supposed to find a red key in trancient. :grr:
You've all been past this point and had no problem with it looks like - share with me?
