dealasteal,
What an ingenious method to avoid damage in the water cannon! How did you think of that?
I guess it is the fact that with weapon drawn the Dark engine makes you move more slowly. Actually, if the rules of aerodynamics held, I think that presenting a bigger area to the moving water would cause you to accelerate faster, go higher, and take more damage. :)
Well.. ehem.. I take pride in my work and since i had such a sinister FM maker for a teacher -improvise, adapt, overcome, -became a major priority early on, and at this point i was compelled to succeed!
I was so dumbfounded by this thing i gave it my best innovative thought.
Having all you taffers by my side for competitive thinking, it just had to be!=)
I never give up when it comes to my favorite occupation!
And Especially, when i get cornered by a ? :wot: changling ape beast perpetrator
in disguise who is after my LIFE by chasing me through my territory! Hoping to cash in with my head!:grr:
JIS is definitely a master of deception.
Thanks for the comment -smithpd,

Originally posted by smithpd Well, I have finished Mission 8.:D Now I am a long, long way into mission 9. Which means that, contrary what I thought, Mission 9 is not just a tribute to friends. It is huge and is a real mission. Unfortunately the objectives are in Japanese, and they (both objectives and bodies) keep piling up. Unfortunately, I am getting into one of those save game problems where the frame rate is becoming very choppy and each time I reload a saved game it gets worse. I just hope I can finish it before it gets totally out of control. Howdy smithpd!
I'm having the same trouble with framerate that you described above (mission 9, expert).
I'm in the room with the wooden horse and the killer fairy light :erg: I keep whacking it with a sword, and it keeps not going away!
Did you figure out a way to get the framerate back to normal or should I just suck it up?
Cheers!

I found no way to fix the frame rate. I think the answer is to reload from save games as few times as humanly possible, which seems to prevent some bad information from being accumulated in the save game files. When I first experienced this problem in mission 9, it became almost unplayable just past the horse room. That fairy light may be responsible. Based on a similar experience in Mission 2, I decided to restart at the beginning of the mission, and I attempted to play it with no reloads whatsoever. I had learned what the tough spots were, and it took less than an hour to get back to the horse room. I had to reload maybe two times before getting to the horse room. That improved it a lot, but it did not eliminate the problem. As for the killer fairy light,
the secret is to run fast past it and lose it, so it doesn't chase you.
Even with those precautions, it still slowed down and kept getting worse and worse toward the end. I just sucked it up, as you say. It was bad but playable. I think it was a lot better than it would have been if I had not gone back.

This has to be one of most surprising FM's I ever seen.
Its like the energizer bunny.
I keep thinking its going to end! ANd it doesn't!
The AI are worth seeing as I trek along the paths even tho i felt like i was going to quit in level 8.
I am so glad i stuck it out.
I now fnd myself at a switch button console with platform clouds floating around and skeleton guards patrolling the scene. -Amazing
The thunder and lightning effects- WOW-they are magnificent.
The nude photo puzzle was most surprising to see right above a lava pit-struggling to stay AFOOT.
Finally seeing some loot after all, and really makes you wonder if somethings going to jump you! once you take it.
He does set an intense mood in this maze.
I wonder if the one that says shes married to JIS is his real wife that was depicted on wall earlier on?
I like the little viking AI and his Big Pal even though they didn't see me COMING!
I am so glad i stuck with it-the frustration is overwhelming early on, but there are the payoffs as you continue.
There is the problem for me in the translations, but HEY! I should be able to read JAPANESE!
Is JIS really giving up the ghost in the thief scene after this?
Maybe will see some more of his work after the release of thief 3!

Mission 3: Factory
Has anyone found all 5 coins? I got the 2 easiest ones. Also, there are doors that won't open but frob and a second story balcony housing a guard (above the "covered wagon?") that I can't seem to get to.
While I'm at it, perhaps someone can tell me where to find the engineer's letter from Mission 2: A doubtful Corridor.

tia Clock,
You have to frob some of the treasure chests several times to get all the items in them.
Its really wierd
Their may be different results for u doing this, but alot of people noticed this had to be done to get keys.
Some of the tool boxes you frob have keys underneath them.
I dont remember where the engineers letter is or all the coins-sorry.
Someone else may have an answer for u here on that.
The guard in the balcony area i never had to get to in order to complete, if i remember right.
That section was a huge maze.
You will encounter alot of frobbable doors that will never open, in much of this FM.

Having doors that frob but are not meant to be opened is certainly irritating. Nevertheless, I was aware of the habit of "using" various switches and buttons multiple times before they actually worked. The question becomes...how do we know whether the door will eventually open or not? 3 trys? 4 trys? 2 trys?
Looks like each mission is uncompleted for me. The engineer's letter is unfound and 3 out of 5 coins I can't seem to locate. I hate to leave unfinished business.

Hi,
i´m stuck in the last mission Man´s Tale. I´ve passed the area with the wooden horse
and reached a church with 4 children and an insect beast inside a cage. After searching
and roping around for some time i got motion-sick because of the choppiness.
Please, can someone put me on the track again and give a clue how to continue ?
5 minutes after posting this, i found that
f... switch

I had the same trouble and finally just gave up - the choppiness was making it no longer fun. I've knocked out the children and roped all over the place. I hope I don't have to kill the bugbeast because the only range weapons I have at the moment are rope arrows
Cheers!
