The mission is "a doubful corridor." It is helpful to explain that.
I have played this whole thing twice, and I do not recall finding that letter. I know I did not find it in the last go-around. Perhaps the first. The objective says it's a "31-year old letter from an engineer," according to the machine translation, but I am guessing that it is really a "letter from a 31-year old engineer." That could be JIS. He likes to involve himself in his stories.
One possibility is that the letter became unfrobbable. Are there any unfrobbable letters in the mission? It has been a while, and I forget. JIS often simply removes texts in the English versions of his missions and makes the objects unfrobbable. He could easily have done that and not fixed the objective.
Another possibility is that the letter is an object called "My PYON's Book", which is located under a porch with an exploding black fire monster. That object does not check off an objective but maybe it should.
Anyway, the letter objective is optional and is not necessary to complete the mission.

I'm stuck at the beginning in The last of EMT2. How to open the metal door on second floor? Seems like there's no key/switch for it, though I searched well.

I loved to play this sequence of missions by JIS, It´s really a surrealistic world, beautifull!!!, unique;)

I agree, this is really great campaign, but how to open that door?

Try using your water arrow on something nearby.

Sorry, I don't remember. It has been a long while since I played it. I just loaded it up and realized that my save for that mission, 4.5 hours into it, is at the end with no way to go back.:( It would take me some hours, I guess, to restart and replay it.
Just know this: Headless goose is standard procedure for A Doubtful Corridor. That mission, which is a based on the original Elevator Mission for T1, is very tricky. There are lots of situations where you press a button or unlock something, and the effect of it happens remotely, sometimes very far away. So you need to keep running around checking things that were locked before. Also, there is one situation where you go up stairs and appear to reach a dead end. It is not. All I can suggest is to explore very thoroughly and keep your gamma up for visibility.

thank you, i managed to finish it last night eventually.
I have a problem that whenever I try and save any fan mission part way through it doesn't actually save so when it came to the jumping from beam to beam in the cathedral i was panicing that i wouldn't fall
I loved it though even if it did give me several panic attacks and take me about half a day to complete :D
Now it's time for the next one - meeep
