Melissa,
I am in the same place. And am currently exploring it, so I cannot be too much help. However, I suggest the following (which I wll do later).
When you find something that does not open (the safe painting, for example) and then you find a switch that seems to open nothing (in the middle cell), try going back to see if it opened a previous something (the safe).
This mission is full of switches that open things remotely.
I am new at EMT2 also. The similarity to the original elevator kind of stopped when you went into that town square. Still, there are some things that resemble the original but are in different places. The cells, for example, and the four bed rooms before the cells. It looks like the new design has a lot of borrowing of ideas and geometry but also a lot of shifting around.

Melissa,
I'm at about the same point you are in the level. Here's a hint that might help you along:
Once you are in the cathedral look for an area up high where you can use your rope arrow(s). While roping around you should be able to find another switch
THANK you both! Can't wait to try it tonight :D
For the folks looking at translation - I've found two books so far:
One had a drawing of a tower witha red circle near the top, and the other was a book in the cathedral with the woman in the black dress and her two men.
Cheers!

Hi there!
I loved the original Elevator so I wanted to play the T2 version. But when I got to the cathedral, I got all choppy and loading times went up to minutes. Everything slowed down. I got as far as to the gate of hell, then my system crashed. I've got AMD Athlon 1800+ (1.5GHz), NVidia Geforce 4 4200 Ti. What's up?

I don't imagine it, because I have SCOURED the Japanese FM community for hours pouring over every link and webpage I could find, and most of the Japanese missions we have are a result of that scouring! Although there were some projects that might have turned out cool (one big "Night of the Ninja" or something series was particularly cool looking) but that died away as so many Dromed projects do (Candlefire, etc.) C'est la vie! :cheeky:

I'm getting a bit frustrated so I need to take a break. I got into
the church mentioned earlier by Melissa and smithpd, found the lever up in the rafters and now I can't save! Everytime I try, no matter what slot I use, it crashes back to Windows. I hope the whole thing isn't corrupted somehow. I'd hate to start over.
Time for a break then I'll try again later to see if I can figure out what's going wrong.
nil8hate, which mission are you on? I've only done the first one and part of the second one but I don't know them well enough to pick out where you are. Can you give more details? If you're in the first mission, then
find a box stack that lets you climb up on a wall that goes through town. Follow it to the balcony and jump over to it. You'll find something in that room that you need.
Lightningline -
Yup, that's where you need to go. I didn't have any trouble getting up there but this area is where my game started crashing and I had to quit for the time being. I'll try again later when I've gotten over being frustrated. :)
