Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! This can be a very frustrating mission!! The buttons are so well hidden and so often you find one and have no idea what it did. We wandered around for what seemed forever in one area before we found that we had missed going through one door. A map sure would help. By the way does this second mission ever end? Thanks again.

Mission 2 is just plain huge. Lynx my fellow taffer....belive it or not..ya still have a ways to go. You are just a little over half way..LOL

The original Elevator mission was huge. It took me 12 hours of game time the first time through it, and 9 hours the second time through, a few months later! I haven't finished mission 2 of EMT2 yet, but so far it resembles the first Elevator in many ways. You get into some unfamiliar places (like the towns), go a bit farther, and all of a sudden it looks very familiar again. So, I think JIS sliced up the original and put it back differently, leaving some things out and adding other things.

Roz Roz,
I had exactly the same problem last night. Ist started running very slowly, but not to the point of crashing. I have a gut feeling that it has something to do with the priestess throwing fireballs at you. Kind of like the stuck arrow bug mentioned by Nightwalker. Anyway, the mission got progressively slower and choppier the longer I stayed in there, and the more fireballs I encountered. Unfortunately, I was quick saving frequently in that place, and the quick save became totally unusable. Luckily I also save in a slot every half hour or so. I went back to a slot save that was 30 minutes prior in game time, and I am working my way carefully back to the cathedral, saving more frequently. I will be very careful not to rile up the AI this time. Unfortunately, I am playing in Expert so I cannot kill them to avoid the fireballs. If I am not successful, I may have to restart in another skill.
I'll let you know if I am successful in getting through there the second time.
BTW, I have an Athlon 1.2 GHz and a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 (latest drivers), running Win 2K. I also have an Audigy (v1) sound card. It could be a sound problem, too. We seem to have similar systems. Do P4's play this mission better? Do other video cards work better? Other sound cards? I would be interested to know what hardware is used by those who are successful and unsuccessful.

Gotta new poser :)
Found the switch in the rafters, climbed the staircase of many crates, got the gear key to hell, and went the way of any damned soul ;) Frobbed the switch on the back of the cross, listened to the gates rising, and after brief panic (eeek! ) used all three flash bombs in quick succession to kill the nasty transparent sword wielding haunts. The catch: the banners remain, I can't walk through them, and I still haven't found the sword so I have no tool with which to cut them down. Did I miss the sword earlier? Or is there another way past the banners? I tried shooting a broadhead and hitting with my blackjack with no results.
After really not liking mission 1 and behind rather bored with the beginning of 2, I've come to enjoy this one more and more. More readables, or SOMETHING to give hints/clues would be nice, though - I hate the feeling of being totally stuck. If someone would be so kind as to translate the book found on the desk in the office above the cathedral proper and the book found on the desk IN the cathedral proper, I would be hugely grateful, as the latter generated an optional objective and both may be hints as to locations of further puzzle pieces!
Carry on!
Cheers,
-M

Yes you missed the sword. You will need it so you better go back to get it as long as you didnt trip the floor button by the double doors leading into the cathedral area you wont have to start over. or at a previous save.
It is in a room straight below the first cog lock way down below at ground level) (Key to a big space "cog")
I forgot ware I got the key to the sword room though.
There is 2 barrels outside the door and 2 green chairs in the room and a table.Look at the door in the back of the room,go down and get your sword unless you are ghosting you will want to have it.
It is a good idea to place a body on that floor switch. I assume you have some spare bodies lying around.:)

I assumed there'd be a way out of the cathedral from the other side and so I didn't worry about the doors :( I have a save from just before, though.
When you say
It is in a room straight below the first cog lock way down below at ground level) (Key to a big space "cog")
do you mean WAY back where there were the brick levels and the two mechanist doors at the top of the elevator reached via the Inn?!
EDIT:
Okay, I'd completely forgotten about this room (the one with the green chairs, and the guard you can't blackjack outside). The back door opens to a hallway which leads to a door for which I have no key... but isn't this the room where you said the sword key was kept, and not the sword? Or am I confused :) If this is the room where the sword is found, do you know where to find the sword key?
Cheers!

yes it is the room. Go to the door in the back. Go down a hall (it decends to) you will come to a room with blinking lights . And a lock on the wall by the door.
Within is a chest containing the sword.
and you can blackjack a metal helmet guard. You just have to stay behind him or her and keep clubbing, they die though. I am playing on normal though. After the 1 st Elevator mission I wasnt taking any chances.
