Has anyone ever listed the electric and steam powered devices in the Thief setting? It is a nice kind of Steampunk, after all.
I know there is a bestiary here, for the animals.

Is there an equivalent website or forum post about inventions?
This might get a bit complicated. For example, the are electric transformers and street lights in The city, but the green glow above all the electric street lamps make me think the setting uses magic at least partially to replacing wiring. Do we ever see wires? Perhaps this is why they have electric lights but no telegraph?
Do we ever see a dynamo/generator? True, most likely this would be from a water wheel outside of The City itself, but perhaps we are given an explanation of where their electric power comes from.
Curiouser and curiouser...

I started a thread about (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101456) Collector Towers that gradually changed into a theory about aetheric transmission of electrical power, various strata of magic, and the 'collection' of magical energy and it's conversion to electrical power.
Oh, for the record - you can find a number of electrical wires in the setting - the sentinels, for example - but there are also instances of what is apparently aetheric transmission of power - the fallen light in the mines beneath Cragscleft, for instance.
We do know that aether is a proper concept in the world of Thief - G's eye receives aetheric transmission from scouting orbs, for example.
Something that's never really considered - WHY are there so many scouting orbs out there, especially in police and mechanist hands, if G is the only one that's supposed to be able to use them? I'd suggest that proposes a monocle that picks up the aetheric transmission from a scouting orb - the Watch officer or Mechanist rolls the orb somewhere, and slaps on the monocle to see what it sees.
Anyways, that's a minor divergence.

I've been meaning to ask, but I vaguely remember some in-game text in either the first or second game which mentions something about "a spray of water directed onto a water crystal producing light," and I'd always assumed that's how those weird street lights worked -- but I might be crazy and imagining things, or the reference may have been to something else.

There are a few problems with this site - for instance, it lists a collector tower as a gas-light - the site author and I have discussed it briefly, but haven't had the chance to go in-depth.
But overall, it is a pretty damned attractive site.
