Replaying game a year later. Objective: to see how much freedom AI actually allows.
After escaping from the prison cell, and taking along the NSF prisoner, some interesting scenarios unfolded:
At first, this guy totally messed things up. Came running by like a maniac while I'm trying to have a conversation with the doc, and gets me into a hopeless combat situation with people waiting to shoot me as soon as my forced conversation is over. Bad timing of the AI. But fun.
Next I tried something I hadn't done before: to take out the guards (and dogs) at the front entrance first. This turned out to be very easy. My friend actually slit the throat of one of the MJ12 guards. Best thing is they were loaded with weapons. So now I want to get out with my NSF friend alive and well. Wonder if the AI will allow it. Would be fun to take him along for the ride to Tokyo.

You can get him out of the MJ12 base, but he won't come with you on the chopper. :)

Is it just me or the guy who does the voice of your NSF buddy is the same guy who does the voice for Manny Calevera of Grim Fandango?

Just as JCD's voice is the same as John Mullin's in SOF.

Staying on topic, I´ll warn you. If you want him out of the MJ12 base, don´t go to far awy from him. He´ll disappear. And he can´t find his way out himself, either. Bleh.
Besides, you get nothing for releasing him. It´s just satisfying. :)

Huh? When I decide to bother about Miguel, I'll usually just park him in a corner out of trouble, and get him when the level is "clean". ;) Just make sure he is "right behind you" when you switch maps.

Yeah, Miguel stayed with me all the way to the chopper. Sliced some throats for me too. As we entered UNATCO HQ Miguel starts running for the soldier with his knife. To save Miguel I fire past him and kill the soldier. Then my friend comes running for me and slices my throat. Thanks amigo! ;)
I thought he'd switched sides because we were out of the MJ12 facility. But he just thought I was firing on him.
The whole escape seemed a bit too easy though. I mean, four MJ12 guys unloading all sorts of shit at me, and I kill them all with one pistol?? Realistic mode.
So saving guys doesn't exactly pay off (Paul, Miguel). Hmm. Maybe DX2 will have a chick to save.

I thought the same thing. You're the only other person I've come across who's mentioned it!
Miguel so reminded me of Manny that I had to hunt down the voice credits to discover that it wasn't the same guy. Sure sounds like him, though.
