In the underwater base, when Walton Simons attacks, I just ran past him so the conversation didn't start (with him telling you he will kill you). I closed a door to prevent him from getting to me. So, I never really killed him. Has anyone else done this? Will he return later to kick my ass?
One thing about the Simons situation is that I was playing as a hacker/sneak/hide kinda guy. I wasn't really the fighting type- which is Deus Ex's downfall. It allows you to play as sneaky thievy types, but then forces you into seldom situations where you have to fight difficult battles. Oh well, still a great game!

I've never let Walton Simons live. I've always killed him, though once, I was able to past him, and get through the door and close it, and he didn't follow. I was using the invisiblity aug at the time. After our conversation, he didn't know where I was.
Let me know if he shows up in the game later. I douby it since I think it's expected that you kill him.

There are no hard bosses in DX; or to put it more accurately, there are not bosses in DX that a GEP gun to the head, or a couple of HE rounds near them won't solve. I went sneaky, except for a few bits of the game; because I had amassed a huge amount of ammo, I could go crazy with a GEP gun or HE rounds :> lots of fun.
Besides, a silenced, sighted, accurate, recoilless assault rifle is sneaky

He does show up later, at the entrance to Area 51.

Yeah, he sure does. Scared me at first, wasn't expecting him.
A major "oh damn!" when I heard his voice.
I think it's so cool that if you don't kill an enemy and wuss out, they come back to haunt you another day. I kept putting off killing Anna, just running past her. Got her kill phrase later, so it proved worthwhile. Any chance Simons has a kill phrase?

Heheheh. Can he be taken out with a tranq? Or the prod. Like to take him with me to the grand finale, show him who's boss, that kinda thing

** MORE SPOILERS **
You can actually run by Simons both times he shows up (if you don't kill him in the sub base, he comes back at Area 51, outside, just after you run down the hill toward the bunker. Just keep a-running and you'll never have to fight him.
It was in this way that I was able to complete the game with as close to 0 kills as possible: any ending kills Bob Page, it seems, and Anna Navare is killed automatically if you've deciphered her killphrase. If you haven't, you can run the hell away, but you'll probably take some damage. I'm not counting karkians, greasels, and pigeons.

You don't have to kill Simons. I ran past him on the sub base, closed the door etc. When we met at Area 51, I ran around until he ran out of ammo for his plasma gun. He then legs it.
This is how I discovered tranqs don't work on him dammit.
Once you've killed everyone else outside the bunker you can then spend a pleasant few minutes annoying Simons. He keeps running but makes a good target for having baseballs bounced off his head. He also can't run very fast.....
