The best entry of all was clearly CLEARLY our contribution: Coldplay-wannabe (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpnbAIysv74) Paradise Oskar! But somehow SOMEHOW we came in... I dont even know, somewhere near the end.
"Well then", you ask, "if that masterpiece didn't win, what did!?!?  "
Azerbajan. (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-42P1YYk3m4) This shit. Yeah. I don't get it either.
Italy came in second place with (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfJRONrf2h0) this song which isn't that bad.
In third place came Sweden with (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iPEd9Ic0-pI) a song that's clearly more worthy of the #1 spot than Azerbajan's entry. But if the Swedes would have won the Eurovision and then also wind up winning the hockey World Cup tomorrow they would've been obnoxious about it all year long so maybe it's for the best that they didn't win.
Ukraine came in at fourth place but probably only got a position that high because of the lady in the background drawing cool stuff in the sand and not so much because of (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j5tpijqnLuU) the song.
Of the 25 Countries that performed tonight, last on stage was Georgia who just came on there and (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G2y_O1A1IeQ) BROUGHT THE RAWK and in doing so earned themselves the prestigeous HENKE TELEVOTE. They ended up coming in at #10 or something which isn't bad. But it's not great either and it just goes to show that Europe sucks. :nono:
PS. Thank you Poland for the 12 Points. Koki I knew we could count on you to rally your troops!

This is what's replaced you guys forming weird alliances and fighting wars all the time isn't it?
Wars tend to produce better art. Slightly high price, but still...

Wars tend to produce better art
This is perhaps the most eminently quotable thing I've seen all month.

Eurovision is always a great indicator of 10 year old North American music trends.
Do the entrants have to be new artists? There's so much great music in Europe that I'm always left wondering why the Eurovision songs are so bad.

I was so surprised when Belgium gave France 12 points.

Why were you surprised? Is it because you think France was bad or because you were surprised Belgium had a bit of taste and didn't choose one of the other piece of shit?

I was being sarcastic there. This competition doesn't even need songs, they don't change the voting one little bit. France would have gotten 12 points from Belgium even if their entry consisted of a guy making armpit farts for 3 minutes.
But since you bring it up, I found France's entry this year excruciatingly dull. But the beauty of music taste is that it is all subjective.

I rooted for Estonia and they got hardly any votes :( They had the most interesting song by far. Azerbaijan was shit, looks like I'm not gonna fly to Eurovision next year (yes, I am going to attend it at least once in my lifetime).

Why is that? Do Belgians like France so much that they all vote for them? Or are you saying that there's some conspiracy where the Belgian government riggs the votes so they always come up in France's favour?

Italy?! Italy's song was Not Good. At least that worrying early surge of votes for Ireland tapered off quickly; can you imagine if Jedward had actually won the damn thing?
