Yes ladies and gents it's that time of year again. People will lose the ability to judge music and taste, at all, and submit the most bizarre acts for your consideration.
Tonight the semi-finals are on and in my mind the front runners were Finland, with a nu-indie/guitar shoe gazer piece, and Slovenia, with the catchiest and most compartmentalised track. Belarus were pretty cool too, as was Switzerland.
We've had some great bonkers already, from Austria's... erm, I don't know actually - was that a man with a beard in a dress or a woman in a dress with a painted on beard? (the song was dross anyway) to Poland's rather dull dirge accompanied by two very suggestive domestic-chores women. Georgia get a special mention for being so bizarre they should go through because of the drummer's yodelling/chanting alone.
I love the nuttiness and the campness of this all.

I never really cared for this except as a bit of a freak show.
Now I can't see any of it without wondering when they're going to get to the bit where the tributes stop parading around and are launched into the arena to fight to the death.

The circular keyboard was pretty cool.

Eh, Finland's entry this year is pretty bland. Not bad I guess, but nothing special either.
My favourites (among the one's I've heard):
France's contribution, kinda of a Major Lazer-ish thing.

Iceland's Pollapönk with a (

And this cool (

Most memorable Eurovision song I have in recent memory was the 2009 winner which is the very definition of catchy Europop.

Also remember Finland's Lordi winning, but more for theatre; I don't remember the tune.
Got my bottle of cheap wine ready for this evening.

So I just saw the video for Poland's entry. Seems they have some demographic issues.
SubJeff on 10/5/2014 at 20:51
They're targeting the male pants demographic.

What! What did Hungary have and why is it getting all these points!?
And Sweden, bleh.
The Netherlands should win! Or France or Iceland. Or Austria. Or Italy.
Goddammit Europe.
