So the guy managed to save a failing business after all! Now all he has to do is get the federal government to bail out the federal government-
Wait...

So there is quite a lot in the social mediums about this business and consequently I've been seeing/reading soundbites here and there.
The most recent one was Obama essentially saying that the opposition are anti-gay marriage and anti-abortion. Is this for real? Are the Republicans really that backwards?
Go easy on me, I know I don't know a lot about the situation over there. The other thing I saw was some piece which was about how many lies Romney has told in the past few months. Somewhere over 100 it seems. I'm not in a position to verify this, nor do I really have the time to research it, and I don't really want to believe it because you know, sensationalism and all that.
These guys aren't that amazingly unsuitable for office are they? Tell me it's not so.

Dude, that's old news about the GOP and has been for years. They've been campaigning on that for as long as I can remember, and somehow it gets them elected.

hay guys I'm not an expert so go easy on me but I just heard that the pope's catholic? what the hell?!?

The anti gay marriage I get because it's just a religious thing in and of itself. Not that I agree with it, but from a religious pov its clear cut.
But being anti-abortion, in the way I've read, goes against everything in Western medical ethics and that's why it surprises me. It's the whole rape thing - I thought it was just one or two nutjobs but it seems that the whole party is against termination of unwanted pregnancies that are the product of rape. How is this possible in a "civilised" country? It's stupid on it's own (because of the life changing nature of it and because it was a conception borne out of crime) but forcing someone to do that to themselves...

RELIGION

A couple weeks ago I think we had a senator say that a woman could somehow, voluntarily, stop a baby being born in cases of "legitimate rape."
I was a little surprised that this supposedly adult man who was elected to the upper house of Congress didn't know some basics about human anatomy. I was a little more moved by the implication that even if he had known, he literally wouldn't give a hoot! Like, "sry I know you just got legitimately raped but I think abortion's wrong so u just squeeze rly hard and he won't be born lol"

RELIGIONBut has it always been so frothingly conservative? This is as medieval as the Islamic practices I see criticised in the Western media.
And if it has, how are you only changing your mind only now?

For those interested, the Gallop organization has been polling on right to choose for a long time. The full text is (
http://www.gallup.com/poll/154838/Pro-Choice-Americans-Record-Low.aspx) here. But the data they have shows an American public which is very divided on the issue and has been divided on it since they started the polling about it.
