Just double checking, assuming D:\Games\FixedThief2NewDark\Tools\3ds to bin is from the tool kit, if you click on
3ds to bin.txt what version is listed at the top?
That would be version 2.19
I'll try to transfer my model onto my laptop now and see if the converter works there.
Edit: I just did that and the file loaded fine in 3dstobin.exe, but upon converting I got a vertice error and bsp.exe crashed.
I guess I'm just going to do a whole clean install again of Thief 2 (I already did before when Dromed suddenly stopped functioning correctly, hence the name FixedThief2NewDark ;) ).
In the meantime, can someone have a look at the model and see if it isn't corrupted or anything?
I have never worked with anim8or before so I may have done something wrong there.
I just used select tool to carefully cut each side of the airbrush surrounding the model.
Thank you guys a lot for the help so far, it's appreciated. (

How could reinstalling Thief possibly help when it's the third-party tools you're having trouble with?

Just a tip, after installing a new thief2 folder with all your patches, configurations, make a copy and stash it away in another place on your HD. Leave this untouched as a backup. Instead of reinstalling you can just copy the untouched folder again.
Best of luck.

Yep That's a bad model. Nothing is likely to be wrong with your installation. But a LOT is wrong with your model.
You say you started it in DromEd and then exported it, deleted stuff you didn't want, and then tried to convert it to a bin?
:nono::nono::nono::nono::nono:
Honestly, I can't think of a single instance where that is a good idea. DromEd uses a CSG (constructive solid geometry) approach to modeling, and converting that to 3ds will result in a LOT of garbage that you have to clean up in order to get a valid 3ds model. A WHOLE LOT. In your case you have LOTS of invalid geometry. Given what you are trying to model, it would be MUCH MUCH
MUCH easier to just model it normally. There is no need to do what you did.
The only reasons I can think of to export a model from DromEd would be 1) to investigate it in a different tool to try and see what is wrong with it and then fix it in DromEd, and 2) to properly size and fit a model that you are working on which has a complex shape to the DromEd geometry in your modeling tool rather than going back and forth between the tools.
As the doctor said when a patient complained "Doctor, it hurts when I do
this. [demonstrates the motion]" Doctor: "Then don't do that!"
I say to you: "Don't do that!"

Just what Larry said - this model has some terrible topology (as expected from the automatically generated geometry). It also has 1065 faces, which is slightly over the limit for the BIN file, as far as I know. This means that you won't be able to convert it unless you go down below 1024 or around 1000 faces.
Not sure if Anim8or has snapping feature, but once you have this model in your 3d app, you can model it from scratch, snapping vertices to your BSP export. You'll get a model with exactly same shape but with cleaner topology and significanlty lower polycount.

I followed Ottoj5's tutorial and it looked so easy there. Nothing was mentioned about how much of a hassle it really is.
I guess I'll forget about it then or just model it manually in Anim8or. This model could be easily made in Dromed but I was just trying to see if the export object thing worked.
Thank you for your help guys :thumb:

The worldrep to obj is pretty easy actually, but you need some experience with that. I've done it about 50 times. In DromEd, you need to snap everything to the grid (you can use grid 12 or even 10 for this), apply gif textures with 8 characters (like replace0, you can change it later, this is for convenience), and optimize it (very important).
Now you can export it as obj. Use animator to get rid of the junk (as good as you can). There are different views to do this. After that, export the file as obj again (a bigger, more complicated one) or to 3ds (a simple one)
A big object needs some more cleaning, this is done with Meshlab (cleaning and repairing, this needs some experence as well). Export it as 3ds this time and try 3dstobin.
If you give me the object (as mis/cow, with gif textures), I can take a look. Maybe it can be 'saved'

I see, I was honestly hoping it was simpler than that. Still a very neat feature though.
I may get back to this later when it's really necessary. Thank you for your offer, but this (simple) model I made was mainly to see if it would work for later, more complex structures, so that I already had the hang of it.

It is simple. I downloaded that castle tower object and cleaned it in anim8or, then converted it to bin with no problems.
