I've fairly recently finished T: DS (mmmmarvelous game), and I've just remembered reading in the helpful loading screens that you can get optional missions from the hammerites or pagans (only one) once their opinion of you has improved, but I never came across the oppertunity.
Has anyone found/completed the pagan/hammerite side missions the loading screens speak of?

Hmmm...optional missions? Are you sure those aren't just the tasks the factions give you the opportunity of doing to improve your standing with them?
Though if there are entirely separate "faction levels" hidden in there somewhere, that would be really neat.

Well, I would have thought that too, but it clearly said that you could only do one quest series, either on the pagan side, or the hammer side.

Maybe if you hang around Ironwood or that Pagan camp in Auldale you can get a mission to break into the other faction's territory and cause trouble of some sort. And after that, the offended faction will be permanently hostile to you.
Just my thoughts.

I think it probably means the optional mini-missions. There are no full-blown missions with objectives etc. that are optional.
There are however missions like Stop the zombies respawning in Fort Ironwood's graveyard, and burn/plant the pagan sapling. I think that's what the hint meant. Either that or there were missions but they weren't included in the end.

There are side missions in the game that you can do or not as you choose.
1. Clean up the body in the Inn at the docks.
2. Clean up the mess at Ironwood by stopping the respawn of the Zombies.
3. Destroy or save the Sapling.
4. Kill or not the street tough that is threatening the jeweler in Audale.
5. Put the dagger in the donation box for the antique collector.
There may be one or two more, but at the moment none comes to mind.
Doing or not doing any of these have no effect on your game objectives. Some give you bonus' but don't penalize you if you ignore them.
