IW Had: advanced physics, real-time lighting, ragdolls that collided with each other and that the player could step on... Plenty of objects like lights on chains too with full physics. This was before Doom 3 and HL2.
The biggest issue with the HPL engines is the complete lack of multiplayer support. If your game is going to have MP, that could be a problem.

The Flesh engine also had: horrible optimization that persists to this day, horrible ragdolls, very little modding capability (which could have saved an otherwise shitty game.) Its dynamic shadows are a sack of bullshit, and honestly completely unnecessary, especially given the hit on the already poor performance.
Why are you still here?

IW had the worst implementation of physics and ragdolls I've personally seen in a videogame. It also couldn't handle levels larger than a shoebox while the developers blamed the console. Meanwhile Ubisoft managed to release Far Cry Instincts on the same goddamn machine, with massive levels, better textures/lighting/models, and better physics.

If you ever wish to alter that, I can recommend "Dredd vs Death". It may be a tragically lacklustre game, but if it's freakishly awful ragdoll physics you want, you can't beat it!

I'm sad because skacky seems to have been driven away. Well done Lost_soul, you thread derailing jackass.

Really? I can't remember it being particularly awful, but maybe my mind has blanked out the horror.

(e.g. My DVD copy of Dark Messiah has no requirement for a Steam account.)
My DVD copy of DM actually refuses to work with Steam at all, even when I want it to, as if it's trying to prove something.

I just remembered that VtM: Bloodlines is powered by Source and AFAIK the retail version had absolutely no Steamworks ties whatsoever.
Conclusion:- Lost_soul is still clueless.
