Ahahahaa, we switched seats and the co-op just got even more fun. The novelty of body possession will wear out sooner or later, of course, but so far playing as Fettel is very cool :D
Still, I'm amazed how they managed to whip up a "story" that's so flat and uninteresting, and those recycled spooks don't have anything new to surprise and frighten. Cheap Hammer-style screams and that octopus-face ghost thing are embarrassing or annoying, not scary. Fear3 is entertaining as a brainless co-op kill-a-thon, but even games like Gears of War or Army of Two seem to have more substance plot-wise.

This game is eight eurobux on Steam right now so I bought it, only on Interval 2 yet. The SP is not terribly engaging but I'm hoping the co-op will be fun. Now allow me to post some screenies and start a flamewar with my controversial views on controls. Hang on to your hats!
This game is
better with a gamepad than kb+mouse! WHOA what just happen? I dropped THE BOMB that's what happen, read on. I started the game, like any sane person playing a FPS on PC, with kb+mouse, but it felt kinda clunky, y'know? Maybe it's because it's been a while since I played any games with kb+mouse, so I switched to the 360 pad, and it felt a lot more natural. I like the way I can vary my walking speed without having to touch any other buttons, but not only that, I also discovered that thanks to the analogue sticks you can peek your head out from cover in increments. If you only poke your head out a little the guards won't notice you if they haven't been alerted yet.

The game was clearly designed with gamepad in mind, so that's what I'm gonna stick with. Yes a mouse is more precise, but I'll gladly sacrifice a little bit of precision if the trade-off is more natural movement. In normal-difficulty SP the gamepad is precise
enough anyway. Don't need any more. Ok, moving on to less controversial issues (I hope we can all still be friends after this).

see it, right? Let's take a closer look...

Are those banners one of those deals where Day 1 Studios are renting out the ad-space like it was a web banner? Or was that a deliberate designchoice on the leveldesigner's part? Because it's not exacly conductive to creating a spooky atmosphere. Unless it's an ad for Satanbaby Diapers or something and I just don't understand it since I don't habla teh espanol.

F3AR is kinda horrible. In a cheesy B-movie kind of way - which isn't too far removed from the original, but the original knew how to meld John Woo action with Japanese horror movie clichés featuring creepy little girls with long hair, and do it with panache.
F3AR is blanditude central with just about all edginess carefully scraped out with a rusty razor. I'll finish it eventually, I think I'm on the home stretch - but Jesus, the narrative! If I could put a bullet in Fettel's head again just so that I'd never have to hear him speak again, I would do it in a heartbeat.

It's not exactly long. If you've started the game you're practically on the home stretch.

Well, that's one ending. :cheeky:
