This reminds me, is the second part of that HL1 remake Black Mesa ever gonna come out? I'm looking forward to that. Still haven't played (all of) Half Life.

Ohhhh, I remember this mod. It made Alex Vance look like Victoria Secret's model Adriana Lima and Eli became Samuel L. Jackson.

Yeah, the Cinematic Mod - one of those mods by someone who's very skilled, has zero taste and combines these two to... interesting effects.

They're obviously taking inspiration from Valve and
Half-Life 3.

I noticed that across the various versions of the mod, Alyx Vance's look has changed several times, but two things about her always remained relatively the same. :weird:

I installed this for fun.
the core gameplay changes are pretty great. The weapons are re-skinned and sound fantastic. There's some other things like headbob while sprinting and similar small changes.
I am enjoying the playthrough simply because it's like playing through somebody elses interpretation of Half Life, which breathes a bit of new life into it.
I enabled the character pack, which changes all of the generic NPC skins. This is having the effect of taking the grit out of the game and making it look more like a polished sci fi flick. Everybody wearing standard issue matching "city 17" leather jackets and stylish ray-bans (is that how you spell it?). It's different, and not necessarily for the better, But as I said, I'm enjoying the different perspective.
You can individually change each main character to the new model or keep them with the old. Some of the new models change the person drastically, and some are quite fitting. Mossman, for instance. Looks like a femme fatal, and her breasts swing around when she walks like a Dead or Alive game. It's actually pretty comical. Barney I think is the best new model. He looks grizzled, but lankey. He kind of looks like a meth addict hasn't quite gone off the deep end, which makes him the only person in the game world who looks like he belongs.
There are actually 3 or 4 different "girls" to choose from for Alyx. They have names like Kendra and you can choose which ones you want for each chapter in the game Alyx appears. I'm not really a big fan of any of them compared to the original Alyx, but he does have a reskinned version of her that is supposed to be true to the original, and it's quite good.
Other than that it's obvious the guy had a ton of talent who did this, and also has a preoccupation with dicks. Because eveywhere there would be graffiti other than the lambda symbol either has something that says "Will blow for food" followed by an address, or a picture of a dick.
Also, when you enter Eli's lab and see Alyx for the 2nd time, the guy added a room beyond the lab where Alyx emerges from. Apparently it's her bedroom, and right in the center is her bed with a big black dildo.... go figure.
So anyway I took it with me and I'm going to see if dog will fetch it. Maybe I can kill combine with it w/ the gravity gun, if I can manage to keep it all the way through Ravenholm. We'll see.
But really... wtf.

Outside of 1980's synthpop artists, who the hell would wear a jacket with pointy shoulder pads?
I imagine if House of Cards had been airing whilst this mod was still being made, we might have a Frank Underwood-inspired version of Breen.
