Hmm I just checked my emails and it appears it was october 2004 and was still trying to resolve it into january 2005 but in the end it was clear they were not intending to be helpful at all.
That sounds pretty bad. So, why didn't you try to address consumer rights protection department (or whatever it's called in UK) or threaten to bring them to justice?

Well we did try to do that but nothing came of it. I can't remember exactly what they said but I just know they didn't get very far. Probably they thought it was too small a thing to be bothered with I dunno. I could try again but surely it's too late now to be honest?
Also, yes we did threaten aria with that too - saying that we hoped they would do something about it else we would be forced to contact customer rights people but it didn't seem to help, they didn't seem to care.

it still held my attention for 35+ hours which haven't happened in quite some time
In the end, this is what matters!
Fallout 3 kept me thinking about it at work and I just can't wait to go back home and fire it up!

Well I`m not going to do the main quest-line until I`ve done everything else in the game. So expect to be busy for quite some time. Plus with Wrath of the Lich King coming out in a few days thats going to sap away my time from F3 bigtime.

Courier just delivered me the Lunchbox... beautiful! The VaultBoy figurine will be a nice decoration on my work desk. :D
I'm gonna try it this evening, although not in full beauty, because my gfx card still isn't fully operational.

The only thing is, I think I have AGP slots only, not PCI-Express. I was thinking about upgrading my video card, but without a PCI-E slot, how would I go about this?
As long as your CPU's fast enough not to bottleneck the system, you've got some choices from AMD/ATI. I'm guessing you've got an Athlon dual-core system, right? What's the spec like?
As ZB said, AMD's been making AGP cards for a while; the last one was the 3850 which goes for around $130-$150 on places like newegg. You can get a 3650/2600 XT for less, but the performance isn't much to write home about.

Having played this for about 30 hours now I have spotted lots of similarities with oblivion (speaking to people, location finding, the way weapons fall off people when they are killed, etc), however I don't see that as a issue at all. If it works and can be used in other games there's no reason not to use it.
In saying all that though the scenery is sooo much better than oblivion, and without the constant threat of death this is the kind of game and gameplay that I would find so much fun in real life (scavenging, making ad-hoc weapons, exploring ruins, etc).

The world design is fucking excellent. The metros are very Oblivion copy/paste style, but everything else is seriously awesome. Lots of great readables and shit laying around too. I'm not sure it would be possible to create post-apoc DC and its suburbs better than Bethesda have.
Without giving spoilers please :), is it really obvious when you've reached the point of no return in the main questline? I'd really hate to accidentally finish the game without exploring the map more.

Just saw the Making Of video. It could have been better and more deep in terms of explanation how they adapted and developed the philosophy and mechanism of the world, not just Todd and other devs grinning stupidly and saying how incredibly funny the wanted to make the repetitive bloodshed... Well it looks to me like all the gore in slow motion can become stereotypical and loose the intentional effect, but maybe it's only because they show it in videos too often. I shall see how it really works in the game. Overall I think the Making Of video could have been longer and go deeper in other topics, but it goes by.
<3 the Artbook. They designed tons of stuff... Just looking at the sketches of all the mutants makes me shiver from imagining what I'll have to face.

First impressions :
First surprise is that Autorun menu doesn't work for me on XP SP2. Dunno why. I had to launch the installer manually. The installation takes it's time for sure... particularly that stupid LIVE thing installs too long.
The beginning is nice and original, as I already expected, but it's pity they didn't show more of the social life in the Vault. The Vault prologue is somehow short for me. I'd welcome if it was about 45-60 minutes longer, if I had more quests there as I'm growing up.
The Overseer's scouting reports were kind of spoiler, I presumed I won't know what to expect outside until I actually leave the Vault, it could have stronger effect, but perhaps Overseer's knowledge of the outside world will make some sense later in the plot.
And I happeded to leave the Vault at night. I was prepared for the beautiful vista as seen in videos, but it was dark and I had to wait for the morning to enjoy the view. Kind of disappointment, but it's my fault I'm not checking the time.
Talking about day and night, just like in Oblivion the days are too short for me. Perhaps a console command or config file editing will do.
The UI menus are ugly. UGLY! I found a mod which changes menus to classic Fallout style and I plan to install it soon. Not the main menu, that one's pretty... but many UI elements on the screen are too big and intrusive (opacity setting is only partial solution) and need to be modified. I still miss the color pictures of the inventory items. =(
Is it just me or everybody can't put away PIPBoy with the same customized key? I can look at PIPBoy with whatever key I assign to it, but I always have to put it away with default TAB. It's slightly annoying.
Not too many perks to choose from. There could have been more. There were several neat perks and traits in the original games which didn't make it into F3. I understand that some of them wouldn't work in the new system, but there were several good ones, which could have been adapted and implemented but they aren't. Perhaps the modding community will add some more. Perks make your character a SPECIAL and ORIGINAL personality!
VATS is fine and very helpful, but I already experienced one ridiculous gory situation - I managed to blow off Vault guard's head with just one shot from 10mm pistol. Even for a critical hit (I don't remember if it was or not) it's stupid.
The music is... functional... but not really attention catching. In fact it's very mediocre. I'm gonna swap it for original fallout music.
Also the few characters I've met in Megaton so far seem to be shallow, but I believe it improves a bit, as I didn't interact with people much so far.
Otherwise they portrayed the Vault and the Wasteland pretty good. They obviously took inspiration from design of things and machinery in the old games and re-created them in 3D, more or less, but usually more accurately.
About "Oblivionization"... It's particularly NPC interaction what reminds me Oblivion but I don't see it as big flaw so far. The character animations may not be the best but it's bearable.
And judging by the size of the worldmap... even though they say it's smaller than Cyrodiil in Oblivion, it's clear to me this will be a long journey.
I may post more notes later...
