Yeah, I don't understand people's need to replace all the songs and the music in this game myself, either. Granted, it's not quite the same as in FO 1 and 2, but I think what's there suits the game perfectly, tbh.
Also, lol @ dethtoll's hissy fit.

The stock orchestral sountrack is just too bright and epically uplifting for the tone of the game, especially in the wasteland, but also in dungeons and settlements. Some are almost like lullabies. The orchestra music is more appropriate for action moments, but Morgan's mysterious and eerie electronic ambient themes are HUGE atmosphere improvement.
Regretfully, to my knowledge it's currently not possible to assign one specific theme only to one specific location, there are two important music folders : Exploration and Public. But it's not a biggie for now.

Well, to each their own I guess. Edit: besides, you mean you don't have our glorious President's patriotic speeches on continuous loop?!

Ah, but the old songs on radios are different thing! Their selection is great. It's good I can turn on radio when I have mood for it... But I prefer Galaxy News (I didn't find other stations yet), as the military marches are boring to listen to after a while.
I should note though that orchestral music was very pretty in Oblivion, it was actually one of the best things I liked on it.

What the fuck are you actually talking about? I never said anything like that. Was this just some horribly exasperated gimp-rant you couldn't contain any longer?
Look, I could have given the long version and said 'shooty stuff that attempts a degree of realism', but I never said that it was a bad thing. I really liked that about stalker. And about CS. But fallout 3 fulfills the wish for an open, seamless world seemingly endlessly full of dark mutant-filled ruins in the way that I was really hoping STALKER would. Next time you try to get on your high-horse about some bullshit, check to make sure its not actually a donkey first.

I agree. I greatly prefer Morgan's stuff for the atmosphere and I hate battle music but the radio selections and speeches are great. Was anyone else slightly disturbed by that "Butcher Pete" song? I was even more disturbed when I found out it is a real 40's-50's song and not one made up by the Bethesda team as I first though when I heard it!

I'd just splattered a raider's head with a bullet when that song came on. Quite the 1-2 punch. So America in the late 40's-50's wasn't all unadulterated joy and happiness, after all. Tsk tsk, Happy Days, how you've miseducated me.
Still, it's a murderously infectious little ditty. As are some of the others. I think it'll be a while before I can scrub the line 'I'm as corny as Kansas...' out of my brain.

25% exasperated gimp-rant, 75% you not fucking clarifying what you meant. And for what it's worth,
you're still wrong- Stalker and Counterstrike are worlds apart. Even if you meant "CS-style twitch shooting" in a positive manner it's still fascinatingly ignorant. First and foremost: Counterstrike never tried to be realistic. Oh, headshots kill? Yeah, that's great- but it stops there. The whole "zomg CS is reeliztik" is a result of retarded 14-year-old boys who'd cut their teeth calling each other faggots on Quake 2 and being amazed at the idea of an FPS game that was more than simple free-for-all. I remember the early 2000s when just about every single HL1 mod in development strived for "extreme realism" and being very irritated because in those days I was on dialup and just wanted some good old-fashioned HLSP. CS is basically team deathmatch with no respawning and optional objectives. Stalker actually tries to be as realistic as possible without any loss in fun that results from being
too realistic (can
you imagine having to take a shit every 12 game hours?)

Yeah, can you believe that guy spouting shit about Levine and Spector in that other thread. Fuck man, what an elitist prick
he was, wish he'd come up with
oh fuck it,
:picard:  :headdesk:
nothing more.
(
http://ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1788144#post1788144) Another fantastic feature of TTLG: Not reading other peoples' fucking posts. (also I still stand by my assertion that Levine is a hack, but you're welcome to, you know, actually debate me on that in the other thread, which you never did for some reason)
Vivian on 12/11/2008 at 13:02
Well, recoil matters, bullets slow you down, confuse you and kill you pretty quickly, aiming is important, death is quick, tanking around in front of someone and pouring bullets into each others faces is generally a bad idea. In terms of general paradigm, I'd say the two resemble each other. If you want to quibble over terms any more than that you can fuck off back to the kingdom of nerd rage, frankly. Goon.
