Tell me about it. Reason I never managed to get into the originals.

Malf, those "blanket statements" were in reference to the community in general, not their reactions to FO3. It's called reading comprehension there buddy :thumb:
Hey, just fulfilling the irrational fanboy stereotype here (no pun intended), much like Thief fans lamenting the removal of rope arrows and inclusion of loot glint in Deadly Shadows or System Shock 2 fans decrying the dumbing down that resulted in Bioshock's Vitachambers :p

BTW, I'm a BIG fan of Thief and I enjoyed the hell out of Deadly Shadows, and only a moderate fan of SS2, and hated Bioshock with a vengeance :p

I'm a big fan too (else I wouldn't have found my way here), but there's a definite element of that pot calling the kettle black here.

Hmm. I'm a Thief fan and I think Thief 3 is fantastic; I'm an SS2 fan and while I think Bioshock has its problems the Vitachambers are the least of its worries.

However, much like the vaunted Fallout community, you will find others around these parts that will fly off the handle at seemingly the most inconsequential of design decisions regarding their favourite game franchises.
Take DE: IW.

And that's a damn shame, cause the originals (and, to a lesser extent, even
Tactics) are mighty fine games; even if they do, on occasion, spawn
Fanboyz from Hell TM. But I guess you gathered as much already. ;)
[Edit]Oh, and whilst we're at it, I think (

Fallout 2 is take it or leave it; I think it could do with (a lot of) rebalancing; that said, FO1 and FOT are damn fine games. Play FOT if you're a Jagged Alliance fan.

Haha, indeed. I fully realise they are good games, and that the fault lies mostly with me. In fact I bought all three bundled up earlier today to try them once more when I finish 3 and get hungry for more post-apocalyptic mayhem ;)

After 30hrs into the game, I can say that it uses copy-paste excessively :( It's probably better than Oblivion in that regard, but still FAR FAR worse than Gothic1/2 for instance. A lot of indoor areas look the same, plus most of them are excessively large IMO, so the exploration of optional indoor areas becomes quite a chore after a while...
I like the game, but I think it would be much better if the world was smaller but with more diversified areas (especially indoor ones) with less amount of items and containers laying everywhere. The items and containers start to aggravate me, can't force myself to not look in every container I encounter, this idiotic process takes about 50% (!) of ingame time I guess.
