Stealth.

Ouch and Talon Mercs are tough boys. We played Hide and Seek for half an hour in Grayditch ruins until I got all three of them.
I spent a good 15-20 minutes at Fort Bannister dealing with the final Talon Merc. It was a serious Call of Duty-esque moment, really, as I was hiding behind cover, drawing his fire, and then sprinting like mad to another piece of rubble, trying to find a way to get close enough to kill him without having my limbs blown off by his missile launcher (although I did have to reload once when he fired a missile into the truck I was hiding behind, and the ensuing explosion blew me about 300 feet into the air - it was worth it for the humor of my dismembered corpse flying to parts unknown). It was one of the many neat moments I've had in the game.

Stealth is ... probably not an option for me. In that I suck at it. And don't really like playing that way anyway.

What about we start posting screenshots of our characters with their description, stats, or even personality traits and attitudes, who fancies them? Who's gonna be the first?

Check through the thread, it's been done already (well, the screenshot part of your question, at least). Including, (

Matthew: one big turning moment for me in the game was when I started investing seriously in my repair skill. The most immediate effect is that combat becomes more manageable because each bullet does more damage when coming from a gun operating in top condition. Not bad, but this also has a trickle down effect of tipping the economic scales in your favor. You'll start chewing through less ammo than you find, which means you'll be hitting up caravans to sell, not buy.
Cutting out the cost of third party gear repair doesn't hurt, either.
Matthew on 20/11/2008 at 15:57
Interesting, I must confess I neglected that skill. Thanks, Stitch.

And if you don't have high barter skill, this way you'd save some caps for repairing unique items you can't mend yourself, like prototype medic armor :)

Pity there's no gambling, that would be one plus reason for existence Luck and one more way how to make money for scoundrel characters ... they could have learned something from Pazaak minigame in KOTOR. For example implement collecting of 'Tragic: the Addiction' cards. :D

Perhaps Zygoptera has a point that the dialogue was not as rich as in other RPGs of that time, like Baldur's Gates or Torment ...
Nope, I was answering the question posed, that there aren't any 'modern RPGs' better than F1, so was specifically
not comparing it with its contemporary titles, direct sequel excluded.
Now I half wish I'd gone for my first instinct and added Jade Empire (horrible game, I avoid it whenever I can) to the list as well...
