What if we made 3 lists of words - say 10 in each.
So just to clarify - would authors pick 3 or 10 words?
In my opinion 10 words with 3 options for each is more interesting. Otherwise it's too simple.
(BTW. sometimes I think there's too much democracy on this forum... Has there been so much debating and voting on the rules at the times of Komag's contests?...)

My understanding is that there would be 3 columns with 10 words in each column and authors would pick one word from each column. Or 4 columns as DrK suggested.
As for the debating, I think that because there seem to be fewer authors around these days (or have the time), it seems to make sense to try and find out what the authors themselves would like to do.

A winter or holiday contest would be nice.
Or a archaeological contest, you know visiting mummy infested pyramids, hidden temples, lost cities (again), creepy tombs and long forgotten underground caves. I usually love FMs, that have a real Indiana Jonesish feeling even though they aren´t the most "thiefy" idea for an FM.
Also a Lovecraft FM contest would be nice :cheeky:

I think picking multiple words from multiple lists is getting too convoluted and you're going to lose people. Plus, have fun coming to a consensus as to what words are on what lists, etc. :laff: If someone is going to do that kind of contest, the organizer should just trust their judgement and decide, and not ask for too much input from the forums.
Simple is better, and will maximize participation. I still think the seasons (fall/winter) and/or a holiday contest would be the best bet. Weather is a good option too, but that can be incorporated into seasons anyway. So could the "beauty" aspect without forcing it on authors. I actually kind of like the archaeology idea too, but that's probably just because I enjoy Lost City type missions.

So, a seasonal mission (Autumn/Winter).
Elements of a "Lost City" style FM.
One big payday to see Garrett through the cold nights to come.
Probably enough there to get going. :thumb:
Edit: "Sneaking Through a Winter Wonderland"?

So is this still a thing? Is this irrelevant now?

I don't think enough authors are showing interest :(
I for one would like to take part.

I think there's interest, nobody's quite on the same page though, maybe waiting for some more solid rules or to see if the preset storylines work.

So, then, what kind of contest will be presented?

Any word on a Halloween contest? There's only a few days left...
