Sorry, I had no time to reply sooner, taffers. It's been great fun for me to read all your posts and thanks a bunch for your cooperation and all the research done, I really appreciated :)
Madwolf :
I am very much looking forward to your next "thievy" fan mission:cheeky:
FFox :
You've got it all wrong about my signature :nono: It's not as old fashioned as Turandot :tsktsk:
Never heard of "Sympathy for the devil " by Sir Mick Jagger ?
"Please allow me to introduce myself
I am a man of wealth and taste etc
Refrain " Pleased to meet you
Hope you guess my name
But what's puzzling you
Is the nature of my game "
(lol)

I knew I knew what it was but I couldn't remember more than your two lines Mosley, just hummed it every time I read it. :)

[QUOTE=Lightningline} Ernest Borgnine, Maria Callas
Ernest Borgnine? Are you sure? Maria Callas??
I got the reference Mosley though I'm more of a fan of the Stone Roses than the Stones.

Helen Keller? The page's author has an unusual definition of Thieves; so unusual that calling the group Grapefruits or Wankel Rotary Engines would have been just as relevant.
"The Thief Soul group is characterized by bringing in that which is new. Thieves work best with that which is not, rather than that which is. By their very nature, Thieves work against the crystallization of society by constantly challenging reality and finding alternative methods for performing action. If there is a loophole, an escape clause, or a back door anywhere, you can bet a Thief will find it."

Perhaps I'm totally wrong, but Queen's Freddy Mercury made a song (Barcelona) with Maria Callas.
???
Ape Drape: I saw that show here also.
And we have a Dutch show, just like that:ebil:
How about the famous story of Bonnie and Clyde....?!:thumb:

Bonnie and Clyde... all they did was armed robbery.
I've been wracking my brain on this but in USA history, there doesn't seem to be any thief that's famous. Then again, a famous thief wouldn't be a very good one would they? Usually they gain fame from being terrible thieves.
Even though it wasn't sneaking and was very blatant... D.B. Cooper has earned the giant brass balls award for robbing people. Wether he survived or not is unknown, whereabouts are unknown... All that is left after his crime is speculation.
IMHO, sticking a gun in someone's face is not thieving, it's robbing, but not thieving. To me, a thief is someone who is there and gone and you never know he was there untill you discover that something was stolen.

Not up to Villon's legendary status, but here in the USA there's Phil Cresta who might still be alive (if he is, I think he's in jail). He worked in Boston, didn't pay the mob their respect dues and eventually ran into problems. He worked some big scams involving stealing from diamond traders and he got into some big vault with the help of the cops to pull off a huge job. There's a book about him that I enjoyed and DeNiro's going to play him in a movie.
There was also a black guy down in Florida who enjoyed climbing up the outsides of tall buildings in order to steal jewelry. He didn't use ropes. His strategy was based on the idea that people living above the second floor don't lock their windows. I thought he was a most excellent taffer since he often worked while people were in their apartments. He was spotted a few times too, but crawled back out the window to rob other apartments. Very Garrett-like.

Mercury's partner was Montserrat Caballé, not Maria Callas.
