It's been said a few times that updating this thread depends on people providing suggestions. We don't have the time to search for missions that aren't included as there's a lot of other work that we do, e.g. we're in the process of creating a Video list.
This thread used to be stuck but there are many threads that deserve to be stickied, too many, so that is why we decided to create a sticky thread listing all those important threads. And that link is provided 2 posts ago. Brethren's master list is stickied at the moment so he doesn't have to go searching for it whilst he's working on it. It will also be unstuck and go in the Links thread when it is complete.

I have noticed that the are only 16 T2 fms listed in the 'must play' / 'most recommended' section ( out of nearly 1000 T2 fms available), i'm sure we can recommend more than 16 'must plays' to newbies; i know this could be a subjective list but may i suggest the following to be added ( most are already in individual sections in this listing, but some are not, but surely the best should also be included in the 'must play' section
This list obviously reflects my own personal favorites that i have played so far and thus is neither inclusive nor reflects other peoples favorites
Bathory Campaign ( already in city section )
Being Thief ( also add to hardest list section but is already in city mission section )
Calendra's legacy ( already in daylight section )
Cathedral of St Vincent ( already in cathedral section )
Cryptic realm ( inc both b+w and colour zips ) ( bizzarely in daylight section should it not be in crypt )
Dracula reloaded
Exile ( being thief 2 ) ( already in city section )
Kings story ( castle, but is in daylight section)
memoirs of a dead god ( pagan )
Rose cottage ( is in horror section, may also be classified as mansion fm )
The Drymian Codex
The lost City
The search for Crom's blade ( already in castle section )
The Three Crowns ( already in city section )
The Tower
Vagabond ( already in city section )
also noticed T1 'Mansion of Chaos' is in Horror and undead section ? may be better in mansion or ( a barking mad section )
I'm sure there are many other fms that other members of the community could suggest to add to this list......but lets keep any comments positive as i know it is easy to become 'over-heated' with regard to what is or is not a 'must play' fm

I wouldn't recommend Calendra's Legacy for new players. It's too difficult/too unconventional. Same goes for King's Story.

i accept you point esp on calendra's legacy, however i would not agree that just because a fm is tough or unconventional it should be excluded as a must play......if that was the case the 'must play' list would be very short indeed, also very often a fm is great because its tough....think 'Sepulchre of Sinistral' or 'mystery Man'

Thank you, I think. They'll probably have to wait though as I'm pretty sure I'm going away for a few days tomorrow. And I won't have time anyway for a couple of weeks at least. I'll put them on the to-do list though.
Missions are placed in the categories recommended by whoever suggested the mission in the first place. I agree we need more in the 'must play' but it looks like a few aren't anywhere at the moment so they need to go somewhere else as well. Perhaps CL and King's Story should also go in the hardest category and CL isn't even in the series/multi mission section. And now my brain has exploded - thank you!

i'm looking for a little project....will happily trawl through all those listed and make recommendations for corrections where i think appropriate, and can also go through all the fms i have played 150 T1/TG and about 200 T2....so would take a bit of time,
maybe by then your head will be in a nice 'nickie' place :D

No....but thought they were all getting a bit 'samey', have spent a couple of weeks trying to write a review of 'The Golden Book of Keepers', re-written it 4 or 5 times and still think its boring, and have written half a dozen others, same opinion .....so will come back to them later

as for 'mission type' thread a couple of points
1. There are loads of Thief preview videos on Youtube, would you be interested if i collated a list of these and they could be posted along side the screenshots on the mission type thread ?
2. An idea for a couple of other sections in that thread.....foreign language / non-English fms and Ghosting fm section ?

Only teasing - no point in doing reviews if you're feeling stale. The thread won't go anywhere.
We've had a discussion about ghosting before and decided against that as a category for reasons I don't remember now (memo to myself to put the ghosting report links into the Links sticky). A few pages back we've discussed a few other categories but not come to any firm conclusions. Personally, I'd rather see more T1/G missions in the categories we've got. It's a fairly abysmal showing. There are some from your reviews that I haven't done yet though. If you wanted to think about those then would be great. And, whilst you're going through the list, I think we should not have more than 2 categories per mission. Ideally, one day, we'll have a complete listing with every mission.
As for previews, although I can see the sense of putting them next to screenshots, I think I'd rather see them in the video list, either with the LPs/walkthroughs or as a separate category. It would be less editing work. But it's a good idea and I'd certainly appreciate a list of those.
