I just replayed it for a review I posted before this thread was bumped and the gas bombs worked perfectly for me as well.
I dunno if this information helps - but it may be an isolated case.

as far as i know there isn't an issue, they always worked for me. you can play the original version if you can find it, the only differences are visual. i'll have a look at those gas bombs.
EDIT: just downloaded a fresh copy from thiefmissions.com and the bombs worked perfect. this is a different computer, the one i developed the mission on is broken, where did your copy come from?
If I recall correctly, I sent him to this thread and he used the link in the first post. Do the smoke bombs use custom scripts? I tried to make sure he had all of those installed.

Heh! An isolated case that happened to several different people (most of them 2 years ago, though).
Anyway, thanks for the quick replies!

Fair enough my friend - I didn't read through the thread to see how many people had mentioned it. I was just letting Ottoj55 know that it isnt everyone thats having the problem. :D

i suspect that its a corrupted gamesys in one servers copy. its a stock effect, all regular thief scripts and effects.

Hi,
You say the sequence to me of the safe of emergency? thanks, I do not understand like applying these codes, 1200-0400-0800-0200-0600-1000
Ottoj55 on 26/3/2009 at 20:24
its basically a clock that is missing some of the positions. 1200 is straight up, 0200 is up right 0400 is down right 0600 is straight down 0800 is down left 1000 is up left

Eek! Thread necromancy!
Thread necromancy again, more than 3.5 years after the last time I woke up this zombie.
My girlfriend just played this mission, and loved it. Only problem is, she couldn't finish it. The first time she found the gas chamber control switches, she hadn't been to the Dungeon office yet, and switched everything to the off position (which seems perfectly logical, I think). I didn't know that would be a problem, so I didn't say anything. It wasn't until a long time later that she ended up in the Dungeon office and found out what actually needed to be done with the switches. It's now too late for her to switch them properly.
If you ever make a Platinum version of the mission, I want to cast another vote in favor of a reset button for this puzzle.

I also ran into the gas controls problem. I swear I made a save before I touched any of them.
Also there is other weirdness involved. I don't know if this is a problem with NewDark but a lot of the paintings and metal fences are sideways.
Really good and original mission, just couldn't finish it. I like that getting some places had multiple approaches.

I'm having a big problem trying to figure out the sequence of using the switches in this room with the Watcher.
I can't seem to open the huge door in there. I'm assuming it's a vault of some kind. And maybe have treasures inside. I'm under the watcher and I can lean in to use the switches, but I don't know what to do with them. I've looked into my inventory at all the letters, messages... and can't find out what to do with them. I even went through all the pages (a few times) here to get a clue, but can't find any. I must not be understanding something.
Please help with a good spoiler.:tsktsk:
Janie
PS This is a fantastic mission and I'm playing on the most advance mission.
