3, they should check off, you threw them in the furnace right? i'll check it myself, hold on. ok, just checked, a few questions, did they each smoke when thrown in, then disappear? did you throw them in one at a time waiting for each book to be destroyed? its possible one is in the boiler but not close enough to the stim that destroys the book. it hasn't happened to me but its possible. try leaning it a bit to see if there is a book inside. you may be able to nudge it with a broadhead if this is the case.
What is the sequence that opens the vault door. I turned off the watcher, but I searched every note and book I can find and have no idea how to move the switches.
Thanxs,
there is a note eluding to this in the chief's office, that the evidence clerk is hiding the combo well in the evidence room. search the evidence room carefully to find it.
Otto, I reloaded and tried again, and this time it worked. I'm pretty sure all three books of evidence were burned last time; I leaned over and looked carefully. So I don't know why it didn't work.
But this time it did.
Hm... quite short on loot; I need 620 of the remaining 1200 loot in the level. I'll probably have to glance at your lootlist to see what I've missed.
Oh, by the way, I think your mission is unghostable: the only way I've found to shut off the watcher is to cut the wires in the proper order... but cutting wires constitutes property damage, which is forbidden under ghost. If they'd been levers or somesuch, breaking circuits in the same order, it would have been completely ghostable. Theoretically, you could use one invisibility potion (manufactured in the lab) to get into the secure lockup and the one inside there to get out; but then you wouldn't be able to get in to rescue Garrett and out again without alerting the stationary guard there.
The only other possibility, which I admit I didn't try, would be to lean around and work the levers to open the vault, then try to run past the watcher so quickly it doesn't see you... but I highly doubt you'd get away with that.
It's annoying, because other than that, I've been able to ghost the entire mission so far... and I've done everything except the loot requirement.
For your next mission, I hereby volunteer to be a ghost-tester beta-tester! :cheeky:
lean around the corner, open the door with the switches, you can't be seen, then run into the vault when clear and stay to the west side to avoid the watcher, run out quickly the same way. this allows you to save the invisibility potions for the tougher guards to avoid, such as the gas chamber guards.
I thought I given that evidence room a good search, but you never know. Now, where is the Dungeon. Where is Garrett?
remember the blinking lights in the basement, the room you enter from the sewers. you have to find some instructions about that machine. it will reveal the combo to some buttons in the room that open a door to the dungeons
Otto, alas, I don't have an early enough save to try that business with the watcher.
I might run through this again, trying for an actual ghost (without disabling the watcher, which requires busting the ghost because of how it must be done). But I'm not certain... I very rarely replay missions, and never when I successfully ghost. Since my ghost failed -- and you tell me it's possible to ghost that section -- I might give it another go.
Edit: Whoop, you're right! Imagine that -- a mission author actually knowing how his mission works!
I've replayed it for 1:18 now, and I've gotten everything done except loot, rescuing Garrett, and destroying the evidence -- only because I haven't picked up all three books yet. And by golly, you can ghost the secure storage without having to shut off the watcher. I threw a moss arrow onto the floor, just to avoid possibly alerting the guards above... but I didn't realize that watcher turned so far back and forth (that's the equivalent of their "patrol path," so to speak). Plenty of time to dart past.
My apologies!
