I was wondering, should we have a community cleanup and update fan missions with missing or unobtainable loot? I don't mean to imply I know how to do this, but I imagine that for someone with expertise it shouldn't be much of a problem. I noticed this was recently done with the Thief 2 Demo, but there are other missions out there that still need fixing. This is assuming the authors don't have anything against it. I'm not suggesting changing anything but the missing loot. If there are easy ways to do this, I'm not saying I wouldn't be opposed to giving it a go myself...
Missions that need fixing are:
T1 missionsAutumn in Lampfire Hillserror in olddark stats which state there is 4906 loot in game when there is actually only 4206 loot available (this error has been corrected in the Newdark version
Calendra's CisternTotal loot missing Olddark 25 / Newdark 40
Gold 25 (obj 1587) outside map
Purple goblet 15 (Obj 433 or obj 673) Newdark bug, Calendra should place a goblet onto a table after having drunk from it, but with Newdark this goblet disappears as she puts it down
note: this is an occasional bug that may have been corrected by a Voodoo dml fix (tbc)
Curse of the Ancients75 unobtainable gold. North of Salvador's house is a museum with several items on display, including 'Hammer of the Builder'. It looks like this item (obj.nr 132) is responsible for the missing 75 gold. It can't be picked up.
Fall of a Chookpurse (value 1g) on guard in inaccessible room at the start of the mission (obj 339)
Fiend, TheAmbient sound ???? (obj 977) value 100
Gauntlet, TheGemstone (obj 615) value 100.....impossible to get to as is a trap room that teleports you all the way back to the beginning of the mission....so yes its in the mission but impossible to frob
Hush...Hush, Sweet Harlot100 unobtainable gold. There is a sword guard (obj.nr 1413) at The Seamy Interlude pub that is supposed to be carrying a purse (obj.nr 1412), but he doesn't. Now, if 'autosearch bodies' had worked in Thief 1, then maybe we could have picked it up after knocking out the guard...

10 is tied to a decorative plate that should be in the bedroom in the NE, second floor of the manor. I am guessing here, but it could be that the mirror-like plate on the desk is a re-made decorative plate.

TTLL suggests there should be 6 coins there (4+2 in two adjoining "cells", and the Lazy Taffer report shows those six coins to all have the exact same Z coordinate) but
I can only find 5 coins. Maybe the last one is inside a wall?
Obj.nr for the six coins are 1872, 1873, 1874, 1911, 1912 and 1913 (I don't know which of those six is the culprit).
Secret Breaking of a Pyramid (Zmey)
I recall 2 unfrobbable blue Lost City Gems attached to a bed for decorative purposes ...
and maybe one or two unfrobbable giant canopes in a room below the giant staircase within the pyramid.
Sisterhood of Azura 1, Estheridge200 gold missing, tied to three objects. At the weaponsmith, there is an unfrobbable gold hammer (obj nr 652) worth 75 gold on display. In the same shop, there should be a purse (obj nr 1161) worth 100 gold a bit W of the statuette on the office desk. Maybe it was supposed to be in the small locker where the weaponsmith's diary is, or on the workbench in the next room? Finally, there is a gold coinstack (obj nr 131) located a bit N and E of the weaponsmith's shop. I can't figure out where the heck that should be. From the FMs thread, it looks like someone figured out that this coinstack has the same problem as the missing goblet in Calendra's Cistern.
Sisterhood of Azura 2, The House50 gold is tied to an unfrobbable candlestick held by the Mother (Parents' bedroom, upper floor).
Stronghold300 loot missing. 250 of this is tied to 5 unfrobbable wine bottles (obj.nr 106, 107, 108, 1886 and 1906) and the remaining 50 is tied to a flute (obj.nr 741) that is located very close to the statuette and crystal in the water pit but slightly below them. I can not see it there and I have even tried the icon shrinking trick while pressed to the bottom of the pit. The flute may be located too low to be possible to reach.
Swamped100 missing loot is tied to an unfrobbable large red gem.
Torner Island200 gold missing, tied to four unfrobbable candlesticks on the altar with the cursed skull.
The Treasury100 loot missing. It's tied to an unfrobbable purple vase in the fancy bedroom with a safe.

OK, here is a first batch. There are a couple more, but in some missions I miss so much that some of it is probably obtainable. More work/digging is needed.
What Lies Below and The Chain Project are especially challenging, partly because some parts are visit-one-time-only areas (loot hunters hate this!).
3. Bane II - Cult of the Damned100 loot is tied to an unfrobbable precursor mask in one of the bedrooms on the top floor.
4. Curse of the Ancients75 unobtainable gold. North of Salvador's house is a museum with several items on display, including 'Hammer of the Builder'. It looks like this item (obj.nr 132) is responsible for the missing 75 gold. It can't be picked up.

12. Mansion of Chaos125 loot missing, a tiara located close to the middle of the mansion complex. It may actually be obtainable but the mansion layout is very confusing and I have not been able to navigate to the required spot with the help of TTLL and some of the neighbouring loot pieces.

20. The Widow's Ire - mission 1 - Valley of the Burned140 loot difference between what I have found and what the stats quote as max loot. It seems like 70 of this is tied to an unfrobbable gear (obj.nr 1053) in the guardhouse, and that its value got added instead of subtracted (hence the difference of 140). There was, however, one player that wrote in the mission's thread that he/she could pick up this gear. So two things need fixing: 1) make sure the gear will be frobbable (at least after you have pulled the switch so the mechanism stops) for all players and 2) lower the reported max loot by 70.
21. The Vigil150 goods missing. It's a canopic jar (obj.nr 93) located in a spot that I do not think the player can get to. In TTLL terms, it's in one cell S and two cells W the tiara on Ambrose's tomb (and one cell E, one cell N and one cell up from the candlestick on the chapel altar). Someone could try to "fly" to those coordinates in DromEd and see if you can find it.
22. Torner Island200 gold missing, tied to four unfrobbable candlesticks on the altar with the cursed skull.

It would help if the object numbers for the loot items were included. Otherwise, it will take some time tracking it all down.
A few years ago, I suggested doing something similar, such as fixing textures, bad objects, etc, in old FMs. While most responded favorably, no one volunteered to take up the challenge. The other issue of preserving the author's work "as is" also came up.
If I had the time, I'd start with 1999 and fix every mission, updating them to New Dark standards and fixing the various problems, if any existed.

I was thinking of preserving the original work also. There is a certain charm in that, despite the intended changes being for the betterment of the mission. However, missing loot (and perhaps also broken objectives) just seemed like such an essential factor I wouldn't imagine any author opposing.
If there was an easy way to explain how to figure out the loot object numbers, I could certainly do that for some of the missions. Unfortunately, I have played but a fraction of the ones on this list. Most are contributions from other players.

your idea of fixing missions, updating them to NewDark standards would be very much be appreciated, esp a T1 fm i thought was a classic....Oblivion...although a number of people on its thread didnt like it even hated it, it is a fan mission that really could benefit from a new life as it is impossible to finish it at the present when run with new dark
im sure it is too big a job for one person to trawl through every T1/TG fm to update them but if someone with such skills
offered to update a small no of older fms, the community could between them choose/select the best of the older fms that deserved a reboot.......
