Do you have a source for this mothra?
How about Ubisoft themselves?

The text is in French, but you should be able to spot the word "SecuROM" near the bottom of the page, easily.
And the phrase "de copie et limite le nombre d'installations" basically translates to "your copy has a limited number of installations".
It's hardly a surprise. I think I'm going to break down and buy it anyway, as much as supporting an aggresively DRM-laced title pisses me off. But you can bet that after I've bought my copy, I'll be downloading a DRM-stripped torrent as soon as one becomes available.

Cheers redrain85, pre-order cancelled.

Looks like a torrent for me.
Jesus Christ. SecuROM is everywhere now. It's like waking up from a nightmare and everything beautiful is gone.
The_Raven on 14/10/2008 at 23:06
It's has been that way for eight years. Only the newer version of SecuRom is more intrusive than the previous ones.

SecuROM used to be manageable, but it seems like in recent years it's stepped up to the plate as the Starforce of the late Double-aughts.
And my console gaming friend wonders why I just play old games over and over.

Thing is, this anti-piracy measure is now actively encouraging piracy.
It's farcical.

first real infos and 20min gameplay:
over 100 missions
50 km2
30 weapons
50 hours of gameplay
60 locations (i assume settlements, towns)
you can fix your vehicles
you can perform surgery on yourself
buddies help you, give you missions in a safe house (where the bed is)
mission updates GTA style thru a cell phone
exploration rewards you diamonds for buying better weapons
(but no mention of traders or where you get them)
ammo is placed around the map, you don't seem to need
to buy it, if you got the gun you get the ammo you want it seems.
you have a bed to forward time
1min gameplay == 5min worldtime
the glider is still in, hurray
dynamic signs show you the way to objective by getting "red colored"
location/district/gameworld maps
you can tag structures/vehicles with binocs
.....
and so on.
still looking strong ! I'm anxious. release date still fall 2008
Lets hope its a good game to buy or not
Koki on 15/10/2008 at 07:03
I kinda hoped for randomly generated missions like STALKER.
But hey, SecuROM, so who cares
mothra on 15/10/2008 at 12:51
i got the securom-info from some english gaming mag, they posted it online as well but yeah, you already got the info. i preorder it and since I'm more pumped for FC2 than deadspace I'm going to get it and pirate it as well.
It would be awesome if ubi sells 1.mio units of the game but has only 2.000 online activations ! what would that tell them ?

actually the "uninstall" procedure provided with FC2 will be able to "revoke" an installation, so before upgrading or changing PCs you can regain your 5 limited installs. at least that's a little better than before but it still is a thing the customer has to take care of and if your pc goes down, you get one installation less no matter what you do.

50 km2 seems quite big in terms of space
They didn't say if you take things that aren't yours such in towns like stealing a factions vehicle and taking off into the bush that they would chase after you for theft :laff:
