The quicksave system is very, very silly. It's not limited to one slot, so quicksaves just pile up.
and they weigh 2 megs each.
And i'm a quicksavoholic.
..I blocked up my C drive:(

Yikes, thanks for the heads-up, I just went and cleared up some space.

Just got the antimalarial medicine from the priest and finished the tutorial stage of the game. So far it's been kind of slow, especially compared to the more condensed action of the last game I played, Crysis Warhead. However, I expect things to speed up now, and it appears I have more options in pursuing objectives than I did during the tutorial.

The AI in this game is wonderfully scary sometimes... You really have to get used to what they can do! I was driving in a regular car when I sped through a check point, I heard some commotion and suddenly I'm getting shot at with a hail of bullets...
I look to the left when I'm still driving and I just glance a couple of figures shooting, so I drove about 20 meters ahead past a small hill and I decided I will sneak up on these guys for payback. So I park the car right after the hill and jump out and start skulking around, suddenly I hear this noise getting closer and closer... Two jeeps with mounted machine guns coming at me full speed over the hill! I was literally about 5 meters away from the hill, lucky for me my car was parked in the middle of the road and both jeeps ended up hitting the car.
After picking my jaw up from the floor I ran off to the side and started shooting those thugs one by one while they were getting off the jeeps and pin pointing my location. I was really shocked, never had I experienced this in an FPS before...

The most scary thing with the AI is that they can look in the opposite direction of you and still shoot you, lol.. Has happened a few times now, or that it (somtimes) takes several seconds for them to recognize that you are there even though you stay infront of them. The mounted gun (on cars) doesnt do any damage at all if it isnt zoomed in.
After playing some time i must say that its good but that it really needs a lot of tweaking + maybe an expansion to be really enjoyable. I mean there isnt hardly any wild life (maybe im strange, but if i think of africa, i think of the wild life there? ;) ), and unlike STALKER or Boling Point everyone is your enemy, no friendly fractions anyware from what i've seen which is strange since i read it would have some kind of fraction system hmm.

ok, my secuROM'd retail version is still in the mail, so I turned to my pirate friend to have a look around on his 3.8GB installation file, already patched and stripped of any DRM.......
WELL DONE UBISOFT, DAY 1 CRACK WAS PREVENTED FROM HAPPENING.
legitimate customers are happy you could secure your rights in such an effective way.
anyways: it's very, very, very fun and the engine runs in 1024x768 on an PENTIUM4(!!!!) with an old (not 2 old) ATI card. Congratulation !
but: it's also very, very, very dumb, untactical, the simulation starts and stops only at the enemy outposts (no interaction wildlife - humans) and the atmosphere is more low-key and not as good as in STALKER. gameplay is shoot & run or run/stop & shoot, you are practically a superman swallowing bullets for breakfast. there are NO other elements in the game (no trading, no friendly NPCs outside villages) and you have to do a LOT of driving. which works at least better than in GTA. and although this game should be all about immersion I constantly had to check beneath my friends desk if I am not playing a console version.
pop-up statistcs, no lean, no prone, no bullet-drop or realistic damage, high-lighted items, enemies that take hours to kill and are dumb as fuck, no melle (by enemies), weapons that only jam ON YOU. very, very stupid and inconsistent design. i love the body awareness stuff but if you do "immersion" and "realistic animations" then please go all the way or it's just good for a laugh.
overall an average. can't think the story will save this one. there are only so much "samey" missions you can do before you break down. STALKER gave you stupid AI + wildlife + anomalies + radioactivity AND mods and STYLE and ATMOSPHERE in spades.
No way FC2 will ever top that with their "castracted" simulation and total lack of moddability, who cares about the fkn map editor for Multiplayer.
so, fun times but no brains, no impact and no challenge. I ordered it and I don't regret it. just don't think it's gonna change any genre or break down barriers. it's the matador/fisher price of ego shooters.

Damn it sounds like not a good game at all but a disappointment :bored:

it's addictive and fun, for some ppl that's enough for a high score. but I don't see it having any value beyond the "ok, i finished it". I would say Crysis had more depth in gameplay than this one (story and how it was told certainly not).

Nah, it would have been categorized as "disapointment" if we were flooded with non-linear shooters such as Boling Point, STALKER or this, but we arent.
This is the only game apart from Boling Point that has a huge seamless 3D world with no loading whatsoever. But ok, that alone isnt enough to make it truly great, but it's something i can really appreciate.

Yeah ok I suppose its not a bad game but could do with some changes to make it better eg modding
