Hmm, I don't see anything in there about fixing the widescreen issue. I can't believe they left that out. :nono:
Don't get your hopes up. For R6:Vegas, Ubi Montreal never patched in 16:10 resolutions, let alone horiz+ FOVs.

What's the multiplayer like? FarCry had some killer online matches.

there's no assault mode so it's basically non-existing except standard CTF or DM modes that don't get you anywhere. custom made maps are either jokes or sniper maps. single player beats that easily.

Gosh, so is the game good or not.
How about this: You tell me if you think it's good, but you also tell me if you thought Crysis was good.

Lets just say it's a far cry 2 call the game any good.

Well, Crysis is certainly not a pinnacle of shooter perfection, but I definitely like it more than FC2.
Crysis:
- far less annoying to play (repetition/respawning of FC2)
- has much better combat feel IMO
- much more interesting AI
- better pertyness
- more impressive environments (interactivity, realism, less claustrophobic)
Far Cry 2 is a wreck of poor design decisions and a lack of understanding of what is fun. Or something like that. The gameplay has potential, but you're way better off with STALKER if you want that kind of game.

i played it on hard and now a little on infamous: I'm bored.
not that it's not hard. it's just such a drag. there is no exploration besides diamond hunt. the open maps are corridors in reality. the fps stuff is good and should have been kept to a few setpieces (like last missions) and less driving and MORE charaterisation. for what it tries to address (african holocaust, war-profiteering,....) it's just not good enough. multiplayer is bad. map editor is MP only and you can only create maps but no new gamemodes. so modding is non-existing and won't really take off in the near future.
all in all average.
I will get back to it in a few months.
right now only MirrorsEdge could save this disappointing fall for me
(FC2:average, FO3:ridiculously bad, DeadSpace: meh, L4D : potential to be a classic)

I like it better than Crysis. Neither are spectacular, and Far Cry 2 doesn't live up to the hype, but I think it's still fun. The star of the show is the environment, and the fact that no other shooter has been set in this locale before. The realistic fire is actually a big deal and really adds a lot, both in tactics and visuals. I think the weapon system is fantastic (buying a weapon basically buys an infinite number of them, available at any gun shop, but you can only carry 1 primary gun at once).
The poor AI is by far the biggest drawback, as well as the non-existent faction system. If another vehicle sees you on the roads you can be absolutely guaranteed that it will charge at you to ram you, with the gunner shooting madly. There are no other reactions, no disguises. It's an immersion killer and very disappointing.
Still, there are some pretty fantastic action setpieces. I've had more than one "holy shit" moments.
