I played FarCry1 about 15 times and was an active member of the old FC1 ubi- forum where some guys and me had an 65 pages thread about different ways to play FC1 or approach situations.
Me too. I was one of those guys in the threads, and I was one of the most prolific posters on GameFAQs FC board. I made a video of a pistol, M4, and grenade only playthrough on the toughest difficulty (w/diff.scaling off). I kept a 'journal' of my experiences and tactics in a thread there. Good times. Had an awesome online component w/a good community.

it's funny (not your response) but I actually STARTED the game exactly like you describe it. patient, observing, planning - executing and being damn proud of when I pulled it off (like a little heist movie where everything goes according to plan) but after quite some time I just changed to rambo run/gun because the game was SOOOO boring and repetetive I felt the URGE to finish it as soon as quickly or just do a few boring missions the quick way so I can progress the story (that never really came until the last few missions). I played FarCry1 about 15 times and was an active member of the old FC1 ubi- forum where some guys and me had an 65 pages thread about different ways to play FC1 or approach situations.
Haha, that is funny. We both took opposite approaches to the game. You know, I wouldn't play FC2 for the story, because it looks like it takes a while to really kick in and provides you barely enough motivation until it does.
I'm in no hurry to get the story moving, though, because I don't play games for hours and hours any more. A normal play session for me lasts about an hour a day, which is enough for only a couple of missions. I'm perfectly content to fool around with the game on a mission-by-mission basis because of that.

Yeah, game time is severely limited most days here as well, Sulphur.

I know, free time's so rare when you're all growed up, but then again you've got other... distractions. :D

Is there a way to make a stealth kill in this game?
EvaUnit02 on 21/2/2009 at 12:23
From what I've heard, stealth doesn't work since the AI has super-human senses and reflexes, just like FC1.
At least it has regen health, that would've been really useful in FC1 considering how fucking hard it was.

You can do stealth, just used the silenced pistols. Aim at people's heads.
The machete doesn't work too well because your target will almost always cry out before he dies, thus handily alerting every single mercenary within 2 miles to your presence.

yeah, I used the stealthy approach on several missions and found the gameplay pretty decent. Headshots from a suppressed weapon are essential for a silent take down.
This is one of the few games I've played on "hardcore" level. Anything less seemed kind of pedestrian.

Speaking of FarCry...anyone play FC:Instincts on Xbox?
*hears crickets chirping*
No?...Well, it was one of the top 3 best looking console games of last-gen, and was fairly fun in the gameplay department. ALso, has a robust(for consoles) map maker. Think Timesplitters 2 on steroids.
