1st of all, We have heard that last sentence before...
You forget Ubi's track record with PC games, they at least won't gimp in the PC platform specific optimisation department (gameplay is a different matter though.). Assassin's Creed for PC is the best version of all, properly optimised and everything. The PC version of GRAW2 was built by different team to the X360 version and is quite different.

I hated the original FarCry (and a lot of why I hated FC is also why I hate Crysis) but FC2 definitely looks like it's gonna be the cat's ass. That's right, I said cat's ass.

Can someone extract the notes for me? I use Powerpoint Viewer, which is what it sounds like- a stripped down program designed only for viewing .ppt files, and I don't have access to the notes.

You can view the notes with Open Office, if you have it or are interested in getting it ...

I'd rather not have to download a whole thing I don't really need for one piddling thing.

Haha FarCry's really a tech showcase, back when I played it it was obvious to me the folks behind it had no real gameplay design talent.
FarCry is like a corridor shooter except the corridor is now very wide. The fact that it remains a corridor shooter, however wide it is, renders the freedom of movement moot. The AI is pretty stupid, but I suppose that goes for almost every game out there.
1. Find yourself a good choke.
2. Fire a shot into the air.
3. Mow them down as they come running single-file like idiots.

Yes, well, this is FarCry 2, by completely different people. (Fuck Crytek.)
Jashin on 3/6/2008 at 03:48
Yeah, I've been tuning into the (
http://blog.ubi.com/farcry2/) dev blog for some time now.
FarCry does have a silenced weapon to play with, which made it somewhat more fun than the straight-up fights (like my example above). FarCry 2's savanna ecosystem looks to be waaaaay more fun, but it seems to be a straight up shooter anyhow. I'll have to watch and wait. Flaws will come to the surface once people get to play the whole thing.
Plus there's no co-op. Oh and who believe the 50 hour playtime claim?! One guy said it best when he painted the 50hr picture:
Casual - 6 hr
Easy - 8 hr
Medium - 10 hr
Hard - 12 hr
Insane - 14 hr

Detholl, the extracted notes are (
http://www.users.on.net/~s_roberts/pictures/do_dont_show_notes.txt) here.
The two things that interest me are:
1) Flexible delivery of story content, and
2) Telling part of the story through the game mechanics.
I think that's pretty exiting, if they pull it off (and, for that matter, I still think it's pretty cool to try even if they don't make it work).
