Now that I think about it....in a lot of ways the tone of the game reminds me of the last part of Hot Fuzz.

Man I hated that movie. Shaun of the Dead on the other hand....

I think appreciation of Hot Fuzz requires familiarity with small English rural towns.

So Emmerdale then. Almost every character on that show is white and inbred (I'm absolutely not kidding about the last part).

I don't think anyone with a familiarity with small English rural towns would think you were kidding about white or inbred.
I've only had a chance to play the first mission or so, but it's a hell of a good time so far. Brilliant cheesy one-liners, a pitch-perfect atmosphere and a solid foundation in Far Cry 3's mechanics.
Plus the soundtrack is excellent.

Holy shit.
Montage, Sex Scene, I Am Your Father. Within 30 minutes.
I think I'm going to go watch Terminator, then Commando, then any Christopher Lambert film I can get my hands on. I'm so in the mood.

I can also only say that it's pretty excellent. It's 80/90s all over, complete with utter chaos and mayhem. Also features the best in-game item descriptions I ever saw ("If you don't know what a bow is, you should stop playing and read a dictionary!" :laff:)

I'd probably get into this if I could stand the way it looks.
The cinematics, promotions and so on are pretty funny, but the game itself just looks like red/black gloomy crap and I don't want to play it.
If you're not at least throwing around some steel blue arc lights in your night scenes you aren't 80s anything.
And smoke machines. Can't forget those.

You're way out the loop. They brought in a lot of diversity to spice things up.

Hence why I said almost. Last I several episodes that I saw, a well-to-do Indian family had bought up the textile factory (or whatever the hell that business is).
Goddamn lurkers.
