So, Vaas is dead and I'm on the second island.
Playing it on Master difficulty and still finding it relatively easy, but fun. :D

How long did it take you to get that truck to the ridge on top of the island?
henke on 8/5/2013 at 08:43
Oh, 10 minutes maybe? There's one spot (around 2:00 in the video) that's pretty tricky and a I had to spend a lot of time on it, getting out of the truck and assessing the situation(hence the big time leap there).
Needless to say the physics of the vehicles in FC3 aren't quite as complex as those in off-roading sims. Seems like the wheels don't affect the ground individually, but instead movement is affected by how large part of the bottom collision surface is touching the ground. Eh, it's fun trying to get the truck to hard to reach places nonetheless. :)

Do I only I find Liza completely and utterly annoying? She's constantly nagging Jason how horrible it is that he kills people, even though said pirates are actively trying to maim, rape and murder everyone just for giggles. I'd say she's out of touch with reality, but Vaas almost burnt her alive if not for Jason being a Big Damn Hero and saving her, so I'm practically at a loss for her always being negative with him. I'd toy with the idea of just shooting her, but the game always takes away my guns when I'm in the same room with her now.

You'll really, REALLY like your end-game choices! :ebil:

Her unemployed frat-boy boyfriend has nearly died, seen his brother get gunned down, and is now spending his time rampaging around the jungle. Dude is running around the jungle, getting tattoos for no reason he bothers to explain to her, hunting fucking tigers and making pouches out of their skin to hold molotov cocktails.
He's has decided he's Rambo - and clearly fucking enjoying himself. He doesn't bother to check in on her more then 3 times cause he's too busy playing poker, setting marijuana fields on fire and assaulting pirate bases that really have nothing to do with getting his friends back.
Jason Brody is an asshole, and her pointing it out is only annoying cause it's true.
Assidragon on 10/5/2013 at 19:39
Only it's not. For a good portion of the game, Jason has a point in doing what he does - first getting all his friends back, and then to get revenge. She can opt to not give a shit about those, but that doesn't make her any better than Jason.
Yes, he's basically going Rambo on the pirates, but you say that as if there was any other reasonable choice. What else could he do? Sail back home and ask the US army to come and bomb a totally worthless island, just because evil people live there who murdered his brother? Yeah, the US totally bombed Somalia for teeming with pirates - oh wait, nope, they don't give a damn about them. In the end, Liza would be perfectly happy to just hightail out, and let Vaas/Hoyt horrifically murder people.
Hey, it's someone else's problem! Liza and Jason are both extremes, but Jason is an extreme I find more relatable. At least what he does has a net benefit - getting rid of Hoyt and helping the civvies in the area. Liza is content to let cartoonishly evil events happen as long as she can just look the other way. You know the saying, all it takes for evil to win is for a good few to do nothing?
Re: murdering animals for crafting stuff: I bet if the gun stores bothered to sell professional gear, he'd rather use that. :erg:

Nope, I didn't. Citra is basically Vaas, only less gunning people down with glee and more brainwashing. The way I understood Jason, the logical choice for him would be to
turn down Citra, but not leave the island, even if it means effectively being locked up with the Rakyats (though at that point they revere him as sort of a living prophecy, so some of them would probably not try to murder him. Much.) After all he's been through, Jason's no way fit to live in a "civilized" society - and neither would he murder his friends in cold blood, just because a psycho asked him to. Would probably make for some ultrasad ending where noone gets what they want, but that would fit the game the best IMHO...
But if Jason stayed there and didn't just flat out murder every living soul that isn't a harvestable plant, I could totally imagine him opening a misc equipment store and make insane profits. It's clearly an untapped market! And then using the money to buy an old cruiser and then killing pirates in a way larger radius, just out of maniac obsession.

Hightailing it out of there ASAP is exactly what the reasonable choice is. You land on an island full of bloodthirsty pirates who outnumber you 100 to 1, you get the fuck out of dodge ASAP. Hanging around is fucking insane.
And yeah, it's someone else's fucking problem. You need a goddamned army, not one frat boy with delusions of grandeur. "Dude, are you fucking NUTS?" is the only reasonable way to respond to that.
Assidragon on 11/5/2013 at 00:46
By the time you rescue every single one of them, it's plenty apparent - for whatever reason - Jason (and the Rakyat, supposedly by the story I guess) is more than a match for the pirates. Hell, at that point it's possible they have no bases left on the island at all, but even if you stick to the scripted (surely happening) events, you are shooting down fucking helicopters yourself anyway. So why need an army, when you already have one there?
If we go by what is realistic by normal human measure, you shouldn't be able to rescue a single one of them. Maybe Daisy, given she also escaped on her own.
Phatose on 11/5/2013 at 02:36
And how much of that does Liza actually see? She spends pretty much the entire time either captive or sitting in a cave where her boyfriend told her to stay. It's not like he's telling her jack shit either.
