Has anyone played the DLC? Any good?
The season pass is €10 in the PS Store right now. Looking very tempting.
Valley of the Yetis is a lot of fun, it's about the size of Blood Dragon. Worth the extra I paid for the Gold Edition bundle IMO.

Yup, tore though the Valley of the Yetis this week and had a blast! Love the landscape up there in the valley. :)
A slice of gameplay from one of the later missions:

I've been saying recently that MGS V has de-throned FC3/4 as having the best stealth-action gameplay, but playing FC4 again has me unsure about that. There is just something so pleasant about how fluid the state between stealth and action is in the FCs. In a lot of games stealth is only viable up until you get spotted, at which point it's an action game, but here you can simply slink out of view, and if you manage to flank or creep up behind the enemy it's suddenly a stealth game again.

I finally picked this up last weekend on the Steam Sale. For anyone who missed this it is also currently on sale in the Humble Store.

I can see why many people refer to this as Far Cry 3.5. It's very much the same formula but with a number of enhancements and a new jaw-dropping setting. That being said, it's a great formula and just the sort of game that I feel like playing at the moment, combined with some of the other games that I am currently juggling.
While I find that most of the changes to be an iterative improvement on FC3, I kind of miss the style of the enemies and the locals banter which helped give the game a fairly light-hearted feel. By comparison I find the locals and enemies (not including the main characters) in FC4 to be very two dimensional. Another thing that I am finding to be an issue is the very limited mission zone which results in failure within seconds of getting a warning for going outside its bounds. One of the things that I have always enjoyed about this series is the freedom to scout around a mission area in order to determine the best approach so am really not sure why they have put in such tight constraints this time round.

Yeah, even though I liked it I was a bit disappointed by just how samey FC4 felt. FC:Primal, despite big difference in setting and weapons, still looks very similar, gameplaywise. I hope Clint Hocking is put in charge of FC6 and does something drastic with it.

That's also a problem I had with Far Cry 3. Chasing an armoured truck, it suddenly stopped and dudes spilled out as I swerved to not hit it. I had a sniper rifle so I drove on a bit to give it distance. 20 meters down the road I got a warning to get back in the zone, so I hand-braked to a stop. Getting out of the car put me a couple more metres outside the zone - mission failed. I wasn't even far away. FC3 is full of that kind of mission design, and it's part of the reason why I could only make it half way through the game.
I usually call it open-world-itis, where a game is open world, but has missions structured around unnecessary limitations, or makes huge assumptions about how someone is going to play.

Cripes, even Far Cry 2 doesn't repopulate a checkpoint until you can't see it.
