RIP Peter Yates, director of one of the finest car chases ever captured on celluloid.

May I point out the absurdity of posting a death thread for some old fart whom you have never met; someone who knew nothing of you, and never would. Everybody dies! And may I point out that....
Wait a minute. I'm not theBlackman.
There was no finer film than Mother, Jugs & Speed. RIP

Reminds me to play (
http://www.mobygames.com/game/driver) Driver again. They had the handling of these cars down exactly.
Also: Are wheelcaps good for anything but to have them roll away in a speed chase and make your car look more manly and aggressive after that?

A wok for bums?
..but that's only after they fly off at high speeds, and squealing the tires on a dirt road.

If you haven't seen it yet I recommend checking out the Walter Hill movie "The Driver", from '78, it's got some really good (
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MTpJuDsVyQE) chasescenes as well.

Good movie, great car chase. The amusing thing to me is the editing. I lived in SF when it was shot. The scene where the chase goes into open country is well edited, but it was, and is, impossible to reach those roads from the city streets as McQ does. They actually take place about 6 miles from the city proper, in an area of South San Francisco.
All in all still a great car chase.

(
http://www.fordracing3.com/) Ford Racing 3 wasn't half bad either if you don't mind driving just one brand. Plus it's got plenty of interesting cars from the 60's and 70's.

I always preferred the chase scene in the French Connection.
And really, a death thread for Peter Yates? Slow news day?
