I don't really care for the history collections, like the Wolf Queen or anything. But I like some of the "novels," most especially
A Game at Dinner,
The Third Door, and
Thief of Virtue. I also liked this one book about 4 adventurers carrying back some treasure, but I can't recall the name.
My current book/scroll collection:

I've been meaning to ask this question...can't remember if I already did but I don't think I did.
Just how may new books are there in Oblivion? Morrowind had like 300 books, pretty much all-new I think, but the vast majority if Oblivion's seem to be just recycled from Morrowind (and its expansions) - how many are new?
I remember liking the Dance in Fire series back in Morrowind.

As much as I think Oblivion is super great, I was DEEPLY dissappointed that there are few if any new books, and there are FEWER books overall anyway. Why in the whole world are there only books 2 and 4 of the Argonian Account? Everyone has book 2 or 4 or both, but no book 1 or 3 to be found anywhere.
There are so few different books that almost everyone has the same copies of the same few books. I'm sick of seeing "The Real Barenziah" on every freakin' peasants bookshelf. It's rediculous and lame. Bethesda dropped the ball on the books aspect this time around.

Yeah, I share the same disappointment - everyone just has a city guidebook, a copy of a Children's Annud, or a Less Rude Song - booooring.

Yeah, I don't get why there were less books - if there going to take out the Sermons of Vivec and other 'Collect them All!' series, they needed to replace it with something. Grr.
Maybe they figured that no one actually read the books in Morrowind.

Maybe it's planned for one of their "make-us-pay-$1.88" ad-on mods, where they will have two or three big series of collectible books, plus another 50 individual ones or something, spread throughout Cyrodill :p

Without books, how will we know what the plot is?? :(
I'm one of you few who actually read the books in Morrowind as well - in fact I spent more time collecting them than actually doing the quests.
Of the ones I've read, A Dance in Fire is probably my favourite.

The Lusty Argonian Maid
Fire and Darkness
Book 3 of the Argonian Account is definitely in the game, but I can't say I've run across book 1 yet.

Of the (disappointingly few) new books, may favourite is probably Disaster at Ionith, a historical-style description and analysis of the Empire's ill-fated invasion of Akavir a couple of centuries before.
At least, I think it's new. Never saw it in Morrowind and I'm pretty sure I had every book in the game at one point.

"A Hypothetical Treachery" I think it is. That one's a favourite of mine :sly:
