I think Undercover (T1/TG) adds a special tension to the game. Apparently, you are safe because everyone in the mission pretty much trusts you (unless you do something stupid, that is).
That's what I thought until I was suddenly attacked by a Hammerite (shortly after I had secretly knocked out a guard and hidden him)
So, everytime I play, it's a different experience, because even if they don't see you do something, you run the risk of being attacked at any moment. (If they suspect.)

I love any mission where I get to break into an old tomb or ruins. Anything ancient will do. I used to like the city atmosphere more but recently I've changed my mind. It may have something to do with the fact that I went to a museum a while ago and got to see all sorts of ancient artifacts. It made me want to play Thief so I could steal some. And I've been reading a lot about ancient civilizations. I just like the feeling of being the first person in many years to break into some ancient tombs or catacombs and then strip them of all their relics, gold and artifacts.
I like the feeling of isolation. Bonehoard and the Lost City were great because of this. I still haven't played that many fan missions, but I did like the tombs underneath the big mansion in Ominous Bequest. I want to play more dammit but I've been away from home over the holidays. I still haven't even beaten Thief 2 yet. :(
