I almost always play as a Blackjacker. I'm too lazy to find all the loot (Normal is usually my level), and I don't like killing humans or humanoids unless I have to.

Although I'm not much of a ghoster, I've gone back to my favorite missions (like the Sword and RTC) and ghosted them. RTC just never gets old.

Only ever play on expert, bit of mix and match depending on mood but I do like a blackjack frenzy. :D
I like exploring, which is why I'm crap at multiplayer games, I always wander off to see what's round the corner.

As of late, after trying most of those styles, I switched back to kind of realistic roleplaying version, at least in my mind.
Meaning I'm a thief, so what would I do in reality:
1. be as stealthily as possible
2. if 1 isn't possible or would be very risky, never hesitate to blackjack a lone guard and hide him
3. never murder anyone
4. considering 1-3 be as fast as possible, if that means missing those last two goldcoins instead of searching for another hour to get them, so be it

When i first played the game i used to knock everyone out, encouraged by the first level of thief 2. Then i took a break and discovered ghosting and to be honest if you just go around blackjacking everyone you are missing out on a lot of the atmosphere, excitement and gameplay elements of the game.
If you simply must knock out one or two then fair enough, but to knock out everyone there and then causes the levels to be completely empty and lifeless and you lose any "gameplay" that was there.
Also as people have mentioned, in terms of the roleplaying elements, Garret would view having to knock folks out as sloppy and something to be avoided where at all possible.
So yer to those that knock out everyone on sight, i urge you to try another way if only for a bit, so you can see how more exciting and rewarding it can be :)

T2X actually snapped me out of my blackjacking habit. Hitting people over the head with a hammer was so hideously nasty to me that I ghosted most of the game.
I guess being hit over the head with anything that's going to take you down is pretty nasty, but movies have conditioned me to see otherwise.

I'm a blackjacker, but lately I've been toning it down a little by trying to leave civilians alone whenever possible. Servants in the Thiefverse have a hard enough time already, so I try to spare them from getting a lump on their head as long as they don't get too badly on my way. Certain nobles, on the other hand, do deserve a little bump every now and then. :ebil:

I'm shocked that no one likes being an assassin! I always found thief fun, but if I had to ghost with saving 10 times to avoid a point of damage, I would get quickly bored. You can kill people and it still stays interesting, especially when you're trying to avoid getting killed yourself.
I suppose it depends on your level of skill, but I do play other games, and I've never worried about mastering every aspect of a particular game. I do play many games at their highest level, but let's face it, sometimes you don't. Personally, having a no kill goal does make it more challenging, but in some ways very inflexible. In real life a thief would never kill anyone? Yeah, right:erg:.

Ahh, a taffer poll... I prefer ghosting. That's professionnal work. But I love to ghost without saving so I guess I could have chosen "adventurer"
