while Gale may not be the best battle track ever (aural rape from sandpaper-covered shitting dildos notwithstanding, whatever that means anyway), you eventually tune it out like
any over-used battle track in a jRPG.
Impossible. It's too intrusive. Besides once you realize how bad it is, every time screen rolls you just think "HERE COMES THE NIGHT TRAIN...!"

As to whether you hated the game just because of one track, that's your personal beef, bucko. And your shit-tinted glasses at work. :p
I never said I hated CC because of the one track, I can think of a several better reasons to do so.

Also, need I mention the stupendously brilliant boss battle themes? It's not like
all the action music in the game sucked. I mean, come on, really.
I don't even remember the battle theme, except Dragon God and Garden of the Gods but they weren't standard. See FF8 for a brilliant boss theme.

See: Super Metroid. I defy anyone to write a catchier tune that alternates from 5/4 to 4/4 every eight pr so measures.

Oh god, how I loathed the Wheel of Time music. It may have been perfectly listenable on its own in a NuEnya, rockin' ren faire kind of way, but in-game it was a jarringly inappropriate accompaniment to the fast-paced shooty action.
Thats probably fair, its been so long since I played it I dont really remember how it worked in the actual game. I remember making fun of my brother for listening to it but it is kind of cool and Im not really into celtic stuff.

Mmm. Impossible for you, yes.
Just as it's nearly impossible for you to like much of anything, right? I know it's an annoying track, but I could actually tune it out.
Your mileage may - and yours obviously does - vary.

Sorry, my mistake. It was an assumption I made that you hated the entire game because of the one battle track. Glad to see that the other half of my assumption was correct, either way.

Yeah, those. There was no 'standard' boss battle theme, which is what made the music far more compelling then an FF going through its usual motions.
And I preferred FFVII's One-Winged Angel and FFVI's Dancing Mad to FF8's boss battle themes, though the first half of 'Maybe I'm a Lion' was rather invigorating.
But you probably think OWA's just so much noisy orchestral pap anyway, so let's not go there.

The only song from FF8 I like is the one that plays in that weird Jurassic Park knockoff place.

I just fired up Snake Eater for the first time in a while. God DAMN what a cracking theme song. :thumb:

Snake Eater's theme sounds more like a James Bond song than most actual Bond songs do. So awesome.

So it's not a Harry Gregson-Williams orchestral bullshit that's totally forgettable?
