I remember thinking this was amazing back when I was 14. Listening to it now not so much. Although it was a fantastic game. While my friends were playing Killer instinct and MK on their SNES I was playing this on my pc with a gravis pad.

But this one sounds like it was ripped right out of the MK movie.

That second one sounds very 2-Unlimited.

Oh yeeeeah! The cheesy awesomeness of OMF:2097 brings back so many memories! Hey that was a great game. Didn't they make a 3D sequel many years later? Anyone know if it was any good?

It's absolutely bleeding wonderful. The game's brilliant, but the way it mixes the sound effects with the soundtrack and layers more instrumentation to the track with each successful power-up is almost... orgasmic.
I'm no fan of chiptunage, but the Bit.Trip series' music has me spellbound. I want the rest of the games on Steam
now.

Yeah. I kinda hope that they end up porting the full collection that's out on the Wii now with all the bonus levels and stuff. Would really like more.

There are too many fantastic SID and Amiga tunes to mention here so i'll focus on PC soundtracks.
For me, the best soundtracks were from Quake (Trent Reznor/NIN), Quake 2 (Sonic mayhem) and Homeworld (Paul Ruskay, Yes).
I still listen to all songs of the two quake soundtracks from time to time and in the case of Homeworld i love 'Homeworld' by Yes and 'Turanic Battle music' from the in-game soundtrack. :)
The Morrowind theme also sort of sticks to my head, but i think it's because of all the hours i've listened to it while playing rather than being brilliant in any way. :)
The Painkiller soundtrack was great as well, but perhaps a bit anonymous, it did lift the game to a completely new level though so it did its job very well.
In general i feel that it's very rare that any game soundtrack stands out at all nowdays, all the real magic was done in the 80's.
