I don't mind you asking, actually. I use a hearing aid. At that point it stops being a problem of volume and starts being a problem of clarity. It doesn't get in the way of music (just understanding lyrics 80% of the time) but thick Brit accents fighting for volume supremacy with loud soothing music isn't going to be easily understood without subtitles.
Without the hearing aid though I'm useless, in more ways than one.

You know, Im not claiming to even be nearly at as much of a disadvantage as you, but I've been speaking English fluently for a good 10+ years, I've been living in the US and UK for 9 years now... and yet, accents STILL fuck me up. I cant watch The Holy Grail without subtitles, no matter what. And coming to Belfast for my masters has also been hella difficult to understand at time.
I guess it's just one of those reminds that "English will always be your SECOND language" huh...

I hope this hasn't been posted already but I thought the soundtrack to Mafia was really well done. It introduced me to Django Reinherdt which is never a bad thing.
