That song is great as well.
But to counter your statement, you think some obscure ambient track from doom 64 is better than the iconic rock song from E1M1? Riiiiiiight..... (Please someone agree with me. :erm:)

Sorry, man. Can't do that. It's scientific fact that Doom 64 is the standard bearer of all things Doom. Music, graphics, level design? Cuddly Cacodemons? Doom 64. Hands down. Bar none.
You can't argue with scientific fact.

Iconic? Sure. Good? Obviously. Overrated? Absolutely.

What about the Monster Condo music from Doom 2? That was pretty awesome. It had the same theme through out but never got boring. The file is "d_romero".
Then there's the beautiful version of E1m8 from Sonic Clang for the Doom 3 mod. This is perhaps the only time a real rendition of game music has captured the feeling of the original. Many times it seems like game remixes end up way off in one way or another.

Wasn't it a ripoff of some Black Sabbath riff?

Yes, and that's why it's so good.

Saying some knock-off remake for the nintendo console is better than the original doom!? what blasphemy is this!?:wot: That's like saying The Matrix Reloaded is better than The Matrix. (Though Reloaded
was awesome. Bad analogy I know, but you get my point.)

Descent's soundtrack was vastly superior to Doom's (as well as every other aspect of the game).
And Descent II's soundtrack is noteworthy because it set up another Reznor-trying-to-be-Ogre scenario (even if the Quake soundtrack is clearly awesome).
