The sexual tension is, I'll admit, unbearable.
Matthew finally says what GenGaming wouldn't :D

That's because the "LOL U HAET EECH UTHER GET A RUME" joke isn't all that witty or original.

Well I'm just now getting around to playing PM and frankly it's not bad at all. Level design seems to be a fair sight better than XP. Granted, I'm only up to Interval 2, but I've enjoyed the progression thus far. The sewers, for example, end just before I start getting sick of them (unlike XP) and while combat-wise it's still the same 'ol FEAR we've come to know and love, well, that's not necessarily a BAD thing unless you're one of those freaks who don't enjoy games. We've got a few of those around here.

IT'S SHIT

I almost considered putting in some snarky comment in my previous about how I know Malygris is gonna say it's shit. But I didn't. And now look.

F.E.A.R. was great, but that's two years ago now. PM is tired even though it's just been released. I played it for a couple of hours and I'm not seeing anything that makes me want to play on.

That's 'cuz it's.
You know.
An EXPANSION PACK.
Frankly I never get tired of FEAR's gameplay.

No shit?
My point was why the hell waste time and money on an outdated game when they've not even gone to the trouble of adding anything new to the mix? It's not shit, it's just... bog standard. It feels cobbled together and the 1997 level design isn't helping. While the first game wasn't exactly inspiring in that regard, it did do the job, PM just feels sterile.
Don't even get me started on the lighting. :erg:
:edit:
Having said that, I've persevered and I'm now in Interval 04 and it's picking up nicely.

Whoa. Calling it 1997 level design is definitely going overboard. The rest while I don't agree with I can understand.
Level design is actually, as far as I'm concerned, up to par as far as FEAR is concerned. It's better than XP anyway, XP seemed to be missing a few things that could've made it way better.
And what's wrong with the lighting? I think it's fine.

Have you been in any of the street settings? Despite the fact it's supposed to be night, the place is all one tone of brightness and very light. The buildings all have horrendously low poly counts (Hardly any detail, just a box with one naff texture plastered over it) and the layout is just... bland.
The bad design seems limited to outside areas, as most of the interiors are much better. Once you hit the crossover point between F.E.A.R. and XP the game improves dramatically. It just comes off as strange that Sierra wanted more from the F.E.A.R. franchise, but don't seem to want to put in more effort/money than is strictly necessary. I thought the point in PM was to draw more people into the F.E.A.R. series (Hence making it stand-alone rather than requiring F.E.A.R. to play), it just seems strange that PM hasn't had more polish.
