yeah thats what people all over the net say. But its not like I've got a whole crap load of old mouses at my disposal right?
I DO have one of those USB > PS/2 converter things... but it didn't help.
I can't believe there isn't a patch that fixes this.

What mouse are you using and what is your OS + version (eg XP32 SP3, Vista SP1, etc)?
First go into Control Panel->Mouse Properties and untick "Enhance pointer precision".
Now you could overclock your USB polling rates to 1000Hz/1ms (the Windows default is 125Hz). You do this by hacking the usbport.sys. Google your OS version and something like "USB polling rate" + "usbport.sys" and you should find pre-hacked libraries.
The drivers of more recent gaming mice allow native altering of polling rates from their proprietary control panel applets (eg Razer drivers and Logitech Setpoint).

Agreed. I fired up FEAR 1 today and I'm having a hard time with it, I guess I just gotta clean the dust off my skills, hehe.
FEAR 2 is in stores here now, but I only see the X360 & PS3 versions so far. :erg:

I'm not even doing a no-damage run and I'm finding it difficult to do a firefight without losing 70 armor and 40 health sometimes...

BTW, there are 2 FPS games that clicked perfectly w/me, as far as skill/challenge goes. FEAR and FarCry. I was so good at both, I created artificial limitations on myself.
W/FEAR it was a no slo-mo on hardest difficulty w/no saves other than auto saves.
W/FarCry it was my well documented Pistol/M-4/Grenade only run on the hardest difficulty. I actually posted a day-by-day walkthrough on GameFAQs' forums and documentedd it w/YouTube videos on the harder parts. I have yet to meet anyone who can beat this.
This does not carry over to most of the other FPSs I played. Some of them owned me. RtCWolfenstein is one. Wow. Brothers in Arms:Earned in Blood is another. I SUCK at this game. Unfortunate, as I love it and have purchased it on PC AND Xbox...:(

I'm slowly getting back into my groove but every once in a while one of these fuckers suprises me. The non-linear nature of many fight scenes means I'm often getting some jackass flanking me.

Hah, too true! I was fresh off of one and a half playthroughs when I did that. I would be rusty as hell after what...4 years now? Very reasonable to get owned in that game. That AI is brilliant. the flanking and flushing you out of holes is nearly unmatched.

I can live with the aspect ratio and other gripes, but I just bought it and only then realised it runs on Steam(ing poo)... money down the drain, now I'll have to sell it back...
