Didn't you have to use the weapon zoom feature in the original FEAR to walk, as well? Obviously it was different because it used magic eagle eye zoom zoom zoom ability rather than ironsights, but IIRC you couldn't change your movement speed in that either.
You can walk in FEAR 1 by pressing/holding down the walk key.

You mean the shift key? Because that also zooms the weapon like in FEAR 2 but without the ironsights.

As someone who just spent the weekend pounding through it, I can tell you it doesn't if you remap it. Walk and zoom are two different keys (I use mouse3 for zoom.)

No, in FEAR 1 you can bind a key to walk and toggle walk.

I hated the default keys in FEAR 1.

Same here, I had to remap the hell out of it when I installed the game few days ago.

Damn. I dunno how I managed to play through the game 4 times + both expansions and never noticed that you could bind a walk key.

Just bought the game about 4 hours ago.
On keys:
I got rid of the quick menu. I dont need it. Since there are no lean keys I remapped the grenade type key to Q (like in FC2) so thats somewhat familiar.
My only conflict is that I want Melee AND sprint to be shift. since I dont sprint too often i used Alt instead.
as for the AI. they've been flanking me more than using the "cover" system. A couple times so far I've been shooting through broken windows, only to try to switch to a different window and find a guy who just crawled in after me on my flank while his buddies are holding my attention behind cover. So far they seem just as smart as they were in F1

Yeah, they've been murdering me repeatedly, especially later on. With the lack of quicksave this turns into an issue sometimes, esp. on hard. That asshole with the missile launcher aiming at YOU instead of the GIANT FUCKING MECH stomping around killing all his buddies? I hope someone rapes his mom with bathroom buddy love.
I really wish you could remap the PDA key- I'm so used to using tab for grenades that every time I want to throw one I end up bringing up my PDA, since I have to use Q. I also don't like the fact that grenades "cook" and don't explode on contact. I loved using grenades as a sort of shortrange missile in FEAR 1.
Also is it just me, or did they completely miss an opportunity with the Replicas reactivating? In Extraction Point, the Replicas are all dormant in the first 5 minutes of the game but when you get into the church- BAM. Perseus Mandate has a very creepy section where dozens of Replica troops are just standing around, and all of a sudden they activate on you. There is no such situation in FEAR 2.

Wow, they removed the explode on impact feature from the grenades? I loved that. Hell, it is even in Deus Ex.
