vA, did you completely miss the plot of FEAR 1?
When i bought fear2 it came with a little booklet. it was supposed to be Aristides notebook or something, and it talks about all the projects armacham was part of.
Before Origin there was Project Icarus, which was supposed to be a way to make sure astronauts bone density didn't degrade in outerspace on long trips (like to mars or something) and after a bunch of trial and error what they did was basically replace all the bones in a persons body with this composite material that was lightweight, which gave them superfast reflexes. all the invisible assasins have this apparently, and i thought it seemed pretty obvious that this is what they did to Beckett in the underground hosptial after the explosion in Auburn, it made sense from the cutscene I thought. Of course if you dont have this silly little booklet that came with the game (the clerk gave it to me at EB) then i guess it wouldn't be so obvious. Thats why Becket didn't have bullet time
before the explosion.
At least thats what I came up with.
EDIT:
I'll quote, just because I found it really interesting.
Quote:
Icarus entered its next phase with the decision to attempt complete bone replacement with bones made entierly of the carbon fiber composite... Without the weight of organic bone, subject moved faster. Expermintal bioengineered reflext enhancement drugs were administed to the test subjects. Between the new drug regimen and decreased body weight, subjects experienced incredible speed and dexterity enhancements- far beyond any recorded human capability. ... All project icarus subjects were unlocked and released by Paxton Fettel following the second synchronicity event and have gladly turned on ATC employees. Dubbed "assassins" due to their silent movements and camouflage/cloaking suits.so my question is When did the pointman get his
new skeleton and reflex drugs?

Weren't they dormant for the last part of FEAR 1?
Indeed they are. But, then that may be a simple fail safe when they go into psychic control mode. Who knows? FEAR ain't real good at explaining why.

vA, are you not reading what I posted? The Pointman was the First Prototype, Fettel being the second. That is where his abilities come from, not the nasty shit Aristide does to Beckett, which is part of a different (but related) project. The Pointman was born with it.
Have you even played FEAR 1? The game fucking spells this shit out for you.

so my question is When did the pointman get his
new skeleton and reflex drugs?you are sure you played FEAR1 ? I mean, it wasn't that hard to understand and you even had cutscenes and dialogues tellin' you
that you are the son of alma, brother of fettel and the "first prototype" so all that magic runs in your family :) no need for drugs or operations ! It became clear that you are alma's son from interval2 on, i just guessed it in advance.
Phatose on 18/2/2009 at 14:23
Well, in his defense, Alma doesn't seem to have superhuman reaction speed. There's no indication that the reflex speed is genetic, and the boosters lend more to it being artificial.
Volitions Advocate on 18/2/2009 at 14:35
Exactly. and Fettel who was the more gifted of the prototypes does not have those abilities.
Phatose on 18/2/2009 at 14:50
More to the point, for what they wanted the origin prototypes for, enhanced reflexes aren't going to be very useful. Psychic commanders were supposed to stay out of the battle, not go into it, so boosted reflex hardly seem worth the cost.

Actually, the "file" included in the retail version briefly mentions that the Point Man's reflexes were surgically enhanced.
Quote:
The Point Man exceeded expectations. Not only did he manage to achieve psychic contact with Fettel (it is not known what informations were exchanged between the brothers), his surgically enhanced reflexes also made him more agile than the Replica soldiers.
NOTE: This was translated by me from polish back into english. Volition's Advocate, you can check your booklet, it's in the biographies, the part that discusses the Point Man obviously.
I do not think either the Point Man or Becket got their skeleton replaced though. The surgery on Becket was of the "quick and sloppy" type, they would not have been able to do that. He's still wearing his combat suit during the surgery and even after he wakes up, duh.

LOL, I forgot about him wearing the suit. Finally got to play the demo @ work. On an 8600 GS it runs really well (Vista).

Thanks vH. Its not verbatim in the english booklet but you've got it. So I guess the joke is still on me because i DID read that and forgot about it.
I get the problem with becket still wearing his suit during surgery. I would've figured that was just the dev's being lazy. Because unless theres more information that we dont have regarding icarus... really thats the only explanation. Unless of course it just worked... even though it was sloppy. Because it also says in the book that the icarus subjects needed physical therapy and rehab after the procedure. Which the pointman would've gotten, but becket had no time for.
