How did you turn the motion blur off? That's one of the biggest issues I had with the game. I'd turn my head 3 centimeters and the blur would kick in. It was awful.
It's an on/off toggle in the performance section of the options menu.

Glad you mentioned that, actually, I noticed it too. The scale of the world in FEAR 2 seems much smaller in relation to the player. It's very noticeable in the school sections. I think it has a huge impact on immersion and/or giving the location and objects within a sense of "weight". It's one of those seemingly minor things that is actually really important to get right.
Maybe it's the widescreen, the HUD or the FOV but I think it feels like you're running around in a snowglobe.
Good to know I'm not the only one, I was starting to think it was just a placeholder kind of effect in my head. :p
When they make the aspect ratio optional in a future patch, perhaps it will kill the snowglobe effect.

Man it wasn't there last time I played.
As to the aspect ratio, good fucking luck. This isn't the first game Monolith has forced into that ratio and it won't be the last. That said, once I realized it wasn't ever going away I got used to it after a while. The motion blur was a bigger issue for me- I would sometimes get turned around and have no idea where the fuck I was going.

Looking over the FEAR 2 community forum, the fixed aspect ratio is meeting HEAVY resistance. Monolith would be crazy not to address it at some point.

Considering that they won't even support Condemned on the PC, I don't see such a thing happening. I could be wrong though.

Perhaps Monolith will change their strategy for this game, time will tell.
They do have a patch planned by the way, and according to some people on the FEAR 2 forums a film grain toggle is one of the new features.

Huh. Played the demo at work. Runs well enough, but I am not captivated like I was w/FEAR. Considering dethtoll's experience, I am tempted to get it, as the demo does not seem like a fair sampling of the gameplay. I don't know...I am really on the fence w/this one.

The demo consists of individual parts of the full game put together; the distance between two rooms in the demo may actually be several intervals in the full game. Though I haven't seen any familiar part from the demo yet.

I may be blind but I have NEVER NOTICED a film grain. The motion blur covered it all up I guess.
Bjossi on 22/2/2009 at 22:51
I haven't noticed it either, even after turning off the motion blur.

I noticed it in the demo.
but i actually looked for it in the retail version and I didn't really see it.
