so I would say the short 1hour timeslices go to multiplayer gaming
Well, whatever floats your boat I guess, I don't play (online) multiplayer.

A shame, I could use some backup with this fucking scout flood. ;)

it is one of his best in a long time. I had to rewatch it because I laughed so hard a few times. no matter how you stand on FEAR2, this was very, very entertaining.

I was somewhat expecting and ending of that sort
from the moment when Alma lifts you up on the wall in the school corridor and "put's on more flesh" on her", at which moment I was already coming up with all sorts of ideas that the devs might have put in the game
, though the ideas I came up with before seeing it were obviously less original.
There actually are signs that the ending is coming right back near the start of the game. When you are in Aristide's apartment you
hear a ghostly Harlan Wade telling you that Alma is a woman now and she doesn't realise it.
and Snake Fist in Interval 03 tells you explicitly that Alma is the
mother of the apocalypse
. Which when you consider the ending shots is what she literally becomes.
I hope it also informs FEAR 3 as Alma is about to
become precisely what she has been railing against - namely someone that is going to exploit an innocent viciously for their own ends. Which is what Armacham did to her. Indeed she is likely to be just a culpable as Harlan was. I wonder if they will be clever enough to have her child be what ultimately destroys her.
After all the theme of FEAR was that it is our nature to create the monsters that then destroy us.

This was by far one of the best games I've played in a long time.
Yeah I am glad to hear someone else enjoyed it as much as I did. There has been a lot of negative comment on the game which I think has been somewhat over-stated. Monolith got a lot right with FEAR2 and the thought they put into the story and how the enemies and environment play into telling that story. I love the Remnants with their puppet mastery skills. When you consider what Alma 'gifted' to Paxton Fettle these guys are direct reminders of what Project Origin was about. It is nice to see an enemy that is both unusual, memorable to fight and informs the story.

Am I the only one who suspects that the ending is setting up a trilogy, and that we've been introduced to the character we'll be playing in the final game?
june gloom on 26/2/2009 at 00:33
Trilogy, yes- Monolith would never abandon the girl who put them back on the map. Main character, no.
Well maybe.
I don't know.
That ending was so unexpected that I honestly couldn't tell you what the next game will involve. I just hope we get a couple expansions out of this one.

IMO I would rather not have to go through two more expantions and start making a story out of all of them so I can be told afterwards that they're not really relevant. I guess a few more spooky moments and a couple more waves of Replicas wouldn't hurt, but I do hope they won't be labeled "worthles" in the end.

Console games typically don't get expansions.
june gloom on 26/2/2009 at 09:48
FEAR 1's expansions were both ported over.

Except FEAR 1 was a PC game and ported to consoles, FEAR 2 was a Xbox game ported to PC.
