It's a very different kind of horror from SH1 but holy fuck if there ain't some shenanigans going on.

That school in silent hill actually made me quit the game. Seriously. The only other game that ever came close to scaring me was condemned(edit:..well, except for RTC and the cradle, naturally), and even that one wasn't all that bad. But silent hill? I tried playing it at noon with people around and that school still made me shit my pants:(

I've wanted to play SH1 for so long.
I have 2 for the ps2 but the disc is scratched and I can't get past... well i dont remember i stopped playing it when the game wouldn't let me continue.
and I have 4 for the PC but its... really... annoying.

I'm glad Monolith added the laser weapon to FEAR 2, and the energy weapon reminds me a bit of the lightning gun from Perseus Mandate. I wonder if other weapons that weren't in FEAR 1 will make an appearance. :p
By the way, if you like the laser weapon, or any specific weapon for that matter, use the ammo exploit to get some more juice for it. ;)

you know I never did find a "kohler & Bock Idw-15" in the game. did anybody else?
Its that sniper/assault rifle with the burst fire from FEAR. It says in the manual that its in fear 2 but I never found one.
It also says theres a full and a carbine version of the assault rifle. I dont ever remember finding a distinction.

You can change the Rate of Fire on the automatic weapons. B was the default key, IIRC.

no i mean that it said there were 2 different guns.
*checks*
the "Patten PK470 AR" and the "patten PK570a Carbine AR"
And they said the IDW 15 had select fire too

Ok, now I am just fucking pissed off. I was riding a tram listening to a report on Alma (this was after dealing with a bunch of snipers in a massive room) and for some reason I was standing outside the tram, AND THE GAME FUCKING SAVED. So every time I load I'm outside the tram, with the only option to fall down to my death.
EDIT: Restarting the game seems to have fixed it. I'm relieved but no less confused. :erg:

ahahaha
I wish they kept a list of savegames rather than force you to use the most recent one. But otherwise I didn't have much trouble; hell, half the time in FEAR 1 I would quicksave, walk 5 feet and the game autosaved. It'd be funny if it weren't irritating.

The checkpoint system doesn't bother me too much, there are just certain parts that can really test my nerves, like when I have to deal with a bunch of snipers without making a single mistake (on hard 1 - 2 shots will kill Becket). And you can probably imagine how daunting that is when I have the hardest time spotting them, my strategy is to memorize their exact locations when I do see them and then go on from there until I can kill them all without dying.
But it really would be nice if there was a fallback checkpoint or two in case one accidentally triggers a checkpoint when wanting to restart from the previous one due to low health, or if one experiences a bug/save corruption.
By the way, since we are on the subject, I have had this idea cooking up in mind; basically the checkpoint system remains intact, but after beating the game once you unlock the ability to enable a manual save feature. Would perhaps be an option in the 'Start' menu, called 'Enable Manual Saving'. This would give those who want manual saving the ability to save on their own terms while those that like the checkpoint system can keep playing that way. I've been thinking about pitching this idea to the developers in the Developer Q & A forum on Project Origin community forums, though someone has probably beat me to it by now. :p
